Because GalaxyWiki is made by SEN and we don't like SEN because of their immaturity. I'd appreciate if you stopped advertising their wiki here. Anyway, why not just fix the "broken links" on the Mapster wiki?

NM i guess I can modify its... its just... I dunno I think the WIKI things needs to be re-done completely. With something more organized to how we work through the editor. With less of a focus on the GE SCripting.
couple other things about the wiki.
layout design = terrible
link calls it "API DOCS"
Id perfer to see a wiki for "SC2 Editor" with the sections laid out in the order you find them in the editor.
apparently it looks like some of the mods have written some of thier own GE scipts and added them to the wiki ( dunno why they did that)
all the wiki links lead to broken links ... or well most of them do
What needs to be redone about it? I think the "main page" looks pretty good as is. What's wrong with it? All of the Triggers are there already. All that needs to be done is Data entries.
I just started to edit the wiki ...
The biggest Problem for me is.
There is no Version Control.
If some dude delete the wiki, who can see the changes and who can change it back?

I guess Ill have to look at it a bit more..... It would be nice to have the images for the different types of data objects for starters.
How do you prevent people from destroying the wiki..... kinda like the spammers forum had yesterday.
We need to make it so when we search we can find wiki entries.
Ill look at it more and familiarize myself with it I guess. before I comment further...

If you don't see the "History" button then it might be Mod only. I'm pretty sure you can see it though.

1) Agreed. Everything for the Trigger editor will eventually be done for Data.
2) I can revert that stuff, so can other mods. I could've sworn that it wasn't a non-mod thing, but OK.
3) You can filter "wiki only" in the search.
Quote from Op: "I just started the wiki because as I said before the wiki on this site looks nice but is somewhat unorganized. There are broken links all over the place, and a lot of the articles are horribly out of date"
Now that you got everyones attention, lets start working on the broken links and start organizing the wiki =D
What can i do? I would like to help out(never worked on a wiki before). Hrmm.. I have a suggestion. Why don't we put a small Logo on the front page and a brief description followed by a link to the wiki.
Want to create custom Starcraft 2 maps? Need help getting started with Galaxy Editor? Check out our Galaxy Wiki! We offer comprehensive information regarding all aspects of the Starcraft map editor. It is a great resource for step-by-step tutorials, function descriptions and many more! http://wiki.sc2mapster.com/galaxy/main-page/
To browse galaxy source files you need to open a map and go into the trigger editor. There you can either press CRTL+F11 or View->View Source (I think that's how it's called) and a window pops up with all the code.
I guess i'll get started on the Data parts for our wiki here on mapster tommorow then. Well, technically seen today for me. 00:29 at the time of writing here...
Again, dibs on effects.
I guess just copying all the fields and then explaining each one should be enough? I'll organise it neatly of course ;)
EDIT: Lol, i just noticed that this was my 404th post. Don't we all love that number?
Hi. Suppose I wanted to help flesh out the wiki. Where should I start? I see that most of the pages consist of a list of functions and brief descriptions apparently snatched from the editor . I'd be more than happy to list usage examples for functions or provide detailed descriptions like this half-finished page. Either way, I'm sure whoever is running this project (Abion47?) wants some semblance of continuity. Anyone want to point me in the right direction?
Wow. Suddenly everyone's so eager to fix the current wiki. I guess seeing as I prompted such a fervor, it's only appropriate that I take part as well. I don't really care if all the effort's done on my wiki, the sc2mapster wiki, or even galaxywiki. As long as there is effort being done somewhere, my goal has been realized.
Let's do it to it, people.
My biggest annoyance with the trigger API is that it gives the scripted versions of the triggers, which sucks for people who can only use (or just prefer) the GUI.
@Abion: The goal was to have examples and such within each Trigger page as well. Vjeux created a script that was able to grab all that data automatically, which is how it all got done so quickly.
I'm trying to get devs to work on the Wiki a bit, as well as the forums now... So I suppose i'll see what happens.

This.
Even though all my triggers end up being ten times more convoluted than a scripted counterpart I prefer the GUI. Because scripting scares me. So, on topic, perhaps a goal could be to restate all the functions, along with providing examples for their use. *Looks at list of functions*
Uh yeah, okay, forget about that.
But it would still be nice xD
There is not enough infomation for scripting, because there are maybe 10 people, who know how to do it.
And no one wrote a beginner howto.
It is even hard for C/Cpp people, because of all the limit of galaxy.
I read 3 different libs ( Starcode, hashlib and ...) and dig the script editor ( ctrl+F11) to finish my kryptlib(AES+Sha256).
I think we just need a better howto for that.
There are quite a few galaxy scripting tutorials on our Wiki actually, :P. And I would prefer not to remove the Galaxy Script from the Triggers as it would help scripters, but for it to act as both a page for scripting and GUI triggering.
All you would really have to do is alter the pages so that they either give the GUI name of a function and it's scripting counterpart, or the other way around.
And you said that Vjeux had his coding method of getting the triggers? Does that mean that the trigger API is structured in a way that would be difficult to add to or modify? Because it is missing several categories (I will include the corresponding icons):
- General (the "-" is important)
Campaign
Challenge
Chat Bubble
Comment
Also, the API should include something to say what dependency a trigger needs, so that when a person finds a trigger they really need they don't freak out when they can't find it in their map.
WTF, that doesn't look like a wiki at all. First of all, that bar at the right makes it painful to read, just like Wikia's Oasis.
I don't think it's user-friendly at all, people already has problems with the common wikipedia, you can't expect people to contribute in a real basis to this, that doesn't look like wikipedia at all :S.
Seriously, if you have this many problems with Curse letting you control the web, make the wiki in other site and link it here.
@s3rius: Go

I would like to see a model like that. It would be more intuitive to see a wiki that coincides with the editor itself.

Yes, you are right, because before u really know it, u will face annoying errors.
Yesterday i wrote a script with this lines first.
It takes me 3 hour to find the bug.

Not user friendly -> make it user-friendly.
If u think all wiki are not user-friendly. Buy a book named "Galaxy editor for dummies".
