I am starting the process for getting together about 15 to 30 people who will religiously play my map 18 hours a day, earning an average of $0.00 per hour. All applicants should be hard working, trustworthy and have a firm grasp of the written English language. The map is no where near completion. The reason I am asking now is to have a handful of people on b.net (almost around the clock) who can get to know each other, and play maps that are not made by me. Sounds strange, doesn't it?
The map I am making is a turn based, medieval themed, real time strategy. Sort of like Civilizations 5 meets Zone Control (in a Starcraft 2 Engine). Alpha testing will begin on the 24th of January 2012 and finish about one month later. Throughout the alpha you will be entirely concentrating on game-play issues, such as balance, bugs and general feel of the game. Mispelt tooltits can take a back seat.
The most important part of being a tester is that you write down absolutely everything you encounter in game. If an actors animation jerks out, or a model glitches, take a note. If you feel that some units are too strong in groups, write down Marine Spam. If anything enters your head as you are playing the game, write it down, but keep it SFW. I don't want to know what enters your mind all the time :)...
Anyway, name and battle.net ID in a post with the 'rough' hours you are usually on battle.net. European region only for now I am afraid. I might extend the Beta to the NA servers. I would ideally like to have groups finalised by the 17th of January. This allows a week of you all to go out and get to know each other. My map is designed ultimately for 4+ players. I will want every possible game mode tested and abused to destruction from 8 player free for all, to 1v1, and everything in between.
Also, by reading this text you have just entered a psychically binding non disclosure agreement that everything you learn, see, or do within my project is strictly between yourself and other alpha testers. Of course, I cannot police this, but I would be pretty sad panda to see someone release an identical, better map to mine 4 days before I release my one.
K thx.
Oh yeah, Map Project Page is being written up between Christmas and New Years, so I'll link that here sometime then.
A medieval-themed turn-based map? Given it even has some custom textures and models along with a working gameplay, that sounds like some impressive piece of work. I'd love to help you out. I remember how tiresome it is to find and fix bugs in a singleplayer-game. Multiplayer is impossible to test alone, so yeah you need testers. I'll help you alright!

Yup, the alpha play testing phase is still going ahead at late January through February. The project has recently expanded exponentially, and so I am afraid the alpha play test will be of a game that might not be very indicative of the final product. It will still be integral to capture the 'gameplay' aspect and make sure everything functions.
Cool, so that makes 4 of us in total now (myself included obviously).
And of course, all Alpha and Beta testers will have custom skins for their models unlocked in the final release!
Anyone else? :D
Your project sounds interesting.
I'm afraid I won't be able to guarantee my time, but you can always ask me if you need some testing. I usually give huge amounts of critique, which seems to be what you're looking for :)

Special Note: I'm usually not online on battle.net, but you should be able to find me in the sc2mapster IIRC channel. Response time will probably be slow.
Bad news. I got the map to a working point and well, it kinda doesn't work.
I underestimated the time it would take players to do 'their turn'. And, adding the scale and complexity of risk/diplomacy maps on top of this, meant there is just far too much down time while you wait for other players to do 'their turns'. I had initially hoped to fill this down time with mini-games, relating to trade agreements and diplomacy etc... But these detracted from paying attention to what was happening on the map and would become far too repetitive.
A more realistic mode of play would have set teams and each team has its turn collectively. But free for all play and shifting alliances was a major part of play in the initial concept.
I am shelving this project for the foreseeable future. A part of me wants to just simplify it and make it a real time medieval Risk type map, but I feel it will lose a lot of its value in this way. I guess I will wait and see what HotS or the community brings to the table in terms of map editing and then take it from there.
Sorry guys! I will be fleshing out a 'better' concept for something, and possibly recycle a lot of the already working systems in this map. I will keep those who applied for testing informed about any upcoming projects.

Added :) welcome aboard.
Slight change of plans, might start the alpha at the beginning of february. Havn't done enough work over christmas :)
Also, what time zone are you in Neonsz?

Ehh...
I'm east of england, so I guess it's GMT+1. I might be wrong though, timezones aren't my strongest point.
Just a quick update: No problem if if the alpha testing is late January or early February, I'm still available.
