I am looking for 5 enthusiastic Starcraft 2 players to help beta test my map. The map is called
"The Dominion Strikes Back" and fictitiously takes place right where the campaign left off.
[Story Tagline]
A dire situation has force the Rebel Outlaws to make camp on the ice planet of Braxis, while Dominion forces -led by Nova, track them down.
[Gameplay]The Dominion Strikes Back is a (3vs3) - top vs bottom map. The Rebel Outlaws must setup a hasty defense and hold out for 40 mins., while the Dominion must crush the Rebels in the same allotted time. The two terran factions have radically different technological needs and have adapted various Zerg-Protoss technology.
The map is my small "lover-letter" to everything science-fiction and includes hopefully a well-crafted story, ingame-cinematics, and "Tongue and Cheek" sci-fi references and famous one-liners. With your much appreciated help, some polish gameplay too!
If any of this has perk your interest please make a post here or send me a PM and be sure to include what day of the week/time works best for you to test. Feel free to invite a friend too. Please note, I only have a North America Bnet account and therefore need testers who have access to the N.A servers.
Thanks for your interest, Right now I believe its set to 40 real mins. The game length is definitely one of the things I would like feedback on for the test. Would you be interested in testing some time next week?
Thanks for your interest. I am going see if I can get enough ppl this Friday or Saturday. Would you guys have some free time Friday night? 1 playthrough is only about 45mins.
@zeldarules28: Go
I'm going to try and throw together a small clip soon. so, I'll hold off in spoiling it for you :) Hopefully, it will help round up a few more testers.
A preview video been posted. There's alot of cool stuff I left out to keep the video small (Include the vendetta Bomber!)
If anyone is interested, I still need help beta testing the map. Feel free to add my battle id: SonOfAZerg #819 ( or Post here/PM me). I am going to try and round up enough people this this Friday night @ 7:00PM -Pacific Standard Time, to test. Its only 45 mins. long and I feel its quite polish.
It looks really fun. Few things that I found odd is that a colossus gets a 50 times bigger drop pod than everything else. Don't you think its too big? I also loved the statue with the propaganda.
oh thanks, I do too. As for the drop pod thing, every unit has their own unique way of being called in on the map. One of the design theme for the Dominion is that they have only recently secure a foothold and have to call-down their equipment/abilities. But, I'll definitely keep that in mind tho. Thanks for the feedback.
If you can make it to tomorrow's test at 7:00 PM PST, I love to hear more from you.
So do the Dominion play similarly? Is there base building involved ? I noticed the video only shows the dominion...Nice work though, I do enjoy how the dominion has to call down everything from orbit...It makes it feel just like you said, they don't have a secure operation set up yet. And how does that monstor Ion cannon work? Lol thats thing looks beast. Also I lol'ed at the flying starports...I assume they are just temporary models, right?
The Rebel Outlaws do play differently in that they do need to base build throughout the map in order to delay the Dominion. However, there is no resource gathering - income is generated periodically (capturing/defending the automated refineries in the video is an example) . With limited funds, the Rebel team has to make tough calls in where do they defend, how much should they commit, do they invest in a mobile army (which can adapt quickly) or construct a string of fortresses (which is more reseliant).
@ion cannon
Whats really cool about the Ion Cannon is that its a shared Rebel structure. Meaning that you and your team control where it fires and what firing mode its in. Shared controlled for certain structure and abilities (But not your units) is a major theme in the map. For an example, the "call-down statue" and orbital strike ability seen in the video is accessible to any Dominion player who clicks on the Dominion orbital command. Another example of shared control are the Wall structures which the Rebels can build. The walls can be raised and lowered by any member of the Rebel team.
If your interested, you can see all this in action tomorrow, Friday at 7:00PM PST. I would really like your feedback and I still need more ppl to come and test out the map. Invite your friends too! Its only about 45 mins. And I think you'll really enjoy it.
