Hi there, I'm looking for a mapping partner, who ideally has good knowledge of creating abilities in StarCraft 2.
My Plans
The kind of maps I'm interested in creating roughly follows this scheme:
multiplayer, two teams compete against each other ("e-sport suited")
normal camera view from top
control over a single unit or a small squad
I would especially like to test around the "MOBA" genre without following the standard set by DotA/LoL. Instead I'd like to test new ideas, for example:
being able to change the class of your unit anytime you respawn, more similar to a Battlefield game than a MOBA
replace lanes with "control beacons" that each team has to conquer to generate income or that spawn transporter which have to reach the own base in order to create income
possibly creating a "commander" function (like in games like Savage, Natural Selection,...) who can support his teams with abilities or by dropping supply; who can perhaps even build or command units,
instead of having uncontrollable minions.
to lay more stress on logistical aspects, for example respawn locations, like in PlanetSide 2
I usually work in small "projects" instead of starting one large map. That is, for example, I tested how StarCraft would feel when you replace every base location with a conquerable beacon (from which you get ressources) and mostly get rid of building buildings whatsoever (maybe like Dawn of War 2?). It turned out to work just fine and be a fun game mode as well. The work can then easily be exported to a bigger project. I prefer to work this way as it gives you quicker feedback on what is actually fun and what sounds good in theory but does not result in entertainment.
About Me
I'm 23 years old and from Aachen, Germany. I started mapping in the early days of The Frozen Throne (so ten years ago. Oh my god...) and focussed on terraining and triggering to a point where I consider myself quite good in both fields.
I haven't puplished any map in WC3 or SC2 as, like many mappers, I tend to become discouraged once I work on one map for too long (another good reason for teaming up, I guess).
About You
Since im not very accomplished in the field of data editing, it'd be your job to create a number of classes with abilities for each race. As a mid-long time goal, let's say 4 classes with each having 5 abilities for each race resulting in 60 abilities total. I can do the rest (although you can of course also do other stuff, if you want). Also, if you have any other plans, similar to mine or not, and think I could be of any help for you, let me know!
Communication etc.
Time zone: GMT +1, online times vary, contact via pm, email, Skype, whatever,...
Not interested, just saying I liked the post. Most people are all like "this is my map, work on it exactly how I want it" and you're all like "this is the type of thing I'd like to make, looking for partner."
I am designing a Multiplayer map right now.
It is not exactly a moba since the Gamemode is 2v5, but it is basicly Heroes fighting each other!
The Human Faction has 5 Players. Each one controls one of 3 very adaptable Heroes.
Those 5 fight against the endless Zombie Hordes send by the other Faction, the Zombies.

It would be pretty fun to work with you since i am living in Aachen myself ;)
Reading my post again, I have to say that I had a pretty thorough idea in mind that I haven't pursued since. Currently I'm messing around with some map ideas none of which includes any hero designing. Just as a clarification that I'm more open to other genres again. Anyways, I'll send you a pm...

You might want to check "capture and hold", it has some of the things you plan to do
