Why do you want to be in the Beta if its going to spoil the thrill of installing and playing the game on the first day of release?
I personally wouldn`t want a Beta key for that reason.
I was in the Starcraft 2 Beta. It was really epic, but then later on in release I got kinda bored with Sc2 fast. Not sure if there is a correlation there, but ,yea.
To Beta or not to Beta?
I would play it in beta, just to keep track of the changes ;)
I am addicted to changelogs and try to recapitulate and understand the thought process behind the changes. So a beta phase, where a huge amount of stuff might be changed is like heaven for me :D
I don't care about playing the game earlier or get spoiled in any way; if the game should indeed bore me, it would probably do so as well, when I don't participate in the beta.
I still haven't made my mind if I want to buy D3 or not. Lately I started to doubt if I want to participate in neverending item grind called end-game. I dislike PvP and at this point I'm really wondering why do I play games lol...
Buying D3 would be the same as saying I'm going to spend XXX evenings and weekends playing it, completely forgetting about anything else, cause once I play I usually immerse myself completely and uncontrollably.
I receive joy from exploring storyline and atmosphere. I used to be a huge SC lore and atmosphere fan.. and let's say that by releasing SC2 blizzard said "It's time to grow up kid, we're now in a money making business so we have decided to appeal to this "new generation" of gamers."
I also heard that they butchered Warcraft lore in WoW, but I haven't played it so I don't know. I can only suspect that wow had too much influence on blizzards work.
This said, I realize that gothic and scary Diablo style died alongside with BlizzardNorth, and I never really cared about lore in diablo, even though I enjoyed hearing dialogs in D2, and pretty much every single line from D1.
I want to play Beta to decide if it's worth it. Do I like current style? Voicing? Atmosphere? Not worried about spoiling anything since beta lasts only until Leoric which would be like 2-3 hours of killing zombies and skeletons? Runes won't be available till act 2 anyway and that's where all the fun with customization starts I think.
I thought they said it would be more of a technical beta, to check how game works on different systems or something along those lines. They also said that beta would be fast. But really, what is there to check? Certainly not the balance, since then they would have to give us everything.
Same happened for me. I was more excited about the beta than getting the
game for real.
I'm still hoping for a beta key for hots and d3. I want the beta
regardless.
But the beta is only 1/3 of the first of 4 acts. So it's pretty short,
Same here.
Also, to try the game before buying it, and to know where to go in day 1 without being a noob. In Beta you can mess up your character, but it won't matter. Failing at release is failing for real.
I need to be in the beta for many reasons.
I need a great deal of information from it for my site. Have a lot of work to get don.
I also like being able to play all the classes to lv13 so when the game comes out, I know which will be my first main.
I also Think giving error/bug feedback is very important. In order to make the game the best it can, it needs people to do a good job on that. and with the fully new system they are using, they even said this will be the most "real" beta test they have ever done.
There is no source cuase thas not true, its been said diectly from them, it will only be the first 1/3 of act one, they dont not want to give story away.
They also said they dont even think they will add most of the movies.

I recall to remember reading, that "...the beta will include a portion of the first act at first". I specifically remember the "at first", which clearly suggests, that they will expand the beta. But yes, I might be wrong, or it might not have been an official source. I cannot find the exact text I am referring to.
On the other hand, it would make sense to do that. From a marketing perspective, to keep people interested, and also to test all features (yay lets test act 1 all the time, just to see that runestones, which become available in act 2, have major bugs on release)
Maybe they will not spoil the entire game, but maybe they will expand the beta to like half of act 2 over time, at least to test runestones as well.

Seriously, how do you "fail" at a game like diablo? I plan on messing up my characters, a lot. I will play the game and (hopefully) have fun doing so.
If my char is too weak at some point, I will find a way to make him stronger or start a new one. Who cares? With the lack of skill points, you cannot even mess up that. If your current skills are too weak, just switch to other ones.
Fail is a lie.

True, but I would find something ;) And if it is only bugfixing, I would still enjoy the changelogs. I am a crazy person.

Yeah I think it may of not be from an official source. You can also check out diablofans (its one of sixens other sites) they have a link to the blue post, it will only be the first 1/3 about 2-4 hours of gameplay. Something like that, would be all over the place.
I have never played Diablo I&II, so I'd like to play the beta as a kind of demo-version xD Otherwise I'll just buy the game and hope it is as good as everyone who played the first 2 parts hopes^^

To Beta or not to Beta?
The thrill of playing it before anyone else and being 'one of the few'.
But honestly blizzard beta's are generally almost game release quality, so it's almost the same as waiting.

Of course I would want to be in...
- to get a feel what they did
- to extract ressources and raising my horizont of gameplay elements for my own map.
Are we allowed to use models from D3? I've no idea where I should get a goatman like model, if not...

I would rather be in the beta than the actual game. With the stuff they're pulling I doubt I'll get it. I was all hyped up for the game too.
EDIT: btw Eiviyn you should do data monday for sc2streamster and show us your amazing sylvanas riding " " skills.
I just like to play it and to say ''I'm in the beta, yay''. And the beta is free:).

Yep, but as far as I understood, the beta is only limited to act 1 in the beginning, they will enable more content over time.

D1000 has never lived :P
Cause I like to be involved in the testing of a great game.

Are all those quotes legit in your sig? I've seen the Eiviyn one and the first vexal one but the others I'm skeptical. Especially kueken's.
