Until you can play Crysis 2 on an Ipad I don't want one. I don't see how a tablet is good for ANYONE actually. They are still just bulky, ugly, too muntifunctional machines. I mean what is it? Is it a notepad? An internet connection? Sometimes even a phone? Make up your minds!
To say it like that sounds ignortant... For anyone?
Just for me, a college student this is one example
- I don't carry 2-5 heavy books with me, iPad with ebook, done
-records noted
- types notes
- aevanced graphing calculator ( more advanced and powerfull tthan standard ones)
- text people w/e I want
-netflix on breaks
- keep moderating forums
- snes emulator for my Game needs on breaks =p
That's just a very small list of things I, one person , use it for ... And it makes my life so much easier.
Once the tech gets there, and it is, it's just amaZing to think about. But don't say it can't be good for "anyone" that's just silly.'

How the f are you content to just use one of those scrawny little things? They can't do anything! Hell, I can't even read on those tiny little screens. I'm not being ignorant I just see no practical use for them for the gaming world. You can't honestly tell me that your happy not playing SC2 when your on break from class. I just won't believe that. Sorry but any REAL gamer wouldn't be caught dead with one of those. Not trying to be mean or anything but I had a frustrating day on top of learning that the laptop is gone forever because of people that are happy with playing tetris during their lunch break.
Yeah... I can read fine.. So can the millions of other people... And hate to tell you... "real gamers" are the ones that really like these gadgets. Your allowed not to like it, but to say it's dumb and there's no use...ect ect.. The millions and millions of people that have them prove you wrong
And you Tetris comment at the end proves to Me you don't know what These things can handle... Have you seen the unreal engine for the IOS? that thing is jaw droppig
Sure check your email on it and play your Need For Speed (I remembered an ad with that in it). It can't play Crysis 2 or Metro 2033 or Modern Warefare 3 COMFORTABLY. You need actual buttons and a screen larger than what you put in your hands. What if you want to play something like THAT when you aren't around a desktop? You would need an external keyboard or controller but with such a small thing it's better to use a laptop, that's all I'm saying. Actually I still LIKE the weight of a laptop MORE than one of those tablets because It can't just fall out of my pocket or bag without noticing and it feels more durable. The only people I have seen use tablets are: Apple nerds, old people, busy business types, people who study the advancement of tech, no 17 year old, camp out and wait for the store to open, costume wearing, devoted, diehard gamers. Once a tablet can have a 240 gig SSD, a $250 Nvidia level graphics, microphone capability, and the ability to type without using the screen, I'd consider it. Once ALL of these are in the same piece of equipment then it won't be so bad. I guess I'm just angry that people don't like what was working fine for the last 10 years all of a sudden. Plus all of the ads for tablets/smartphones have been either family related or full of office idiots. Have you once noticed a cool person using one? I haven't (unless you qualify that is). There is a guy that my mom sometimes talks to that uses like 7 of these things, does reviews for them, and says how great they are. They aren't the be-all-end-all holy grail of gaming, the Alienware/ASUS/MSI/whatever. If Alienware comes out with a tablet WITH ACTUAL BUTTONS that might be interesting though ;)
Because that's not working fine.. None likes caring around laptops they do because it's all we have. And your only argument is " it can't play top end games thus is useless to everyone" thats seriously what your saying.. It's kind of funny tbh. Noone is going to agree with you.. And we already said it won't be "replacing" the laptop until it reaches/passes the power of laptops, and this is the first half a decade of true tablets, at the rate tech grows it won't be long before they can play top end games. But that has nothing to dl with their "usefulness"

Well what can they do then? video chat? email? internet? Need for Speed? notepad? I have no need/want/use for ANY of that. All I want is a machine that can work hard and play hard in the same thing. Many people feel like I do, I'm sure of it. You know what? I'm done talking to you if that's how you think the world should work. Keep your godly piece of plastic if that's all you feel you need. Me on the other hand, it IS working fine and I believe that a tablet will NEVER be as powerful as a laptop because a laptop is larger, has more room for your hands, feels better when you use it, can do everything of of those can do and more, etc etc, has more room for better cooling = better processors, graphics cards, screen resolutions and such. I really hope there will be a laptop/tablet fusion if anything. I wouldn't mind something closer to a tablet as long as it has actual buttons too.
I can't even properly use my MP3 player because the touch screen doesn't work for me. How am I supposed to use something like that?

I think ive been trolled this whole time...
First... the size.. it can never be as powerful due to the size? ummm ... you just blew my mind... Laptops can never be as good as computers due to the size... serioulsy.. you know how massive computers have to be to get 45kb of memory? BIGG no ways its going into a laptop... oh wait...
[this just makes me think of this video.. not even 2 decades ago.. the hought of a single meg was like HOLY CRAP.. you have a 2 mg harddrive!?.. you use to have to switch out floppies to run crap there was so little space....] Tech grows exponentially... it wont be long...
but yeah... friggen dos 5 ... 45k more of memory...that was MASSIVE
Your argument isnt about playing games tho,.. even im goning to agree with you if I want something to play top end games... obvioulsy a tablet is not the way to go right now... but thats NOT what your saying.. your saying because it cant right now. theres no use for it at all. clearly you have a lot to learn in life.
and no.. theres almost noone that agrees "laptops are fine, I hate tablets because laptops are better right now" seriously? I really feel like your trying to troll me with this logic here rofl.
A tablet can do anything a pc can do. its only limitation is friggen high end games [or applications that use top end memory..ect]... you do know most people dont play games 24/7 once you get older.. you have this thing called a life, where you have to go out and do things. The tablet makes you life so much easier. It lets you do the things you need to do in a very easy way to do it
Like I said.. I dont care if you dont like it... everyone is allowed not to like something... Im just nagging on you for saying "theres no use for it at all"
Judging by the looks of some youtube clips, it seems starcraft 2 can run just fine on a tablet pc. In that sense it sounds like it should be possible to use the editor for it too. It might just be as clumpsy though, what was the direct aim of usage?
That's honestly how I feel, I don't care if you believe me, I don't care if the world believes me. I'm not being a troll either, I just plane, hate with a burning passion, the stupid tablet and I am never going to buy one. My argument IS about the size because think about it. A desktop is more powerful than a tablet, see? A tablet is more powerful than an average computer was 5 years ago sure, I won't disagree. Look at it like this though. A desktop made in 2011 is more powerful than a laptop made in 2011. Of course a tablet made in 2014 will be more powerful than a desktop made in 2011, but what about a desktop made in 2014? It will be more powerful than a tablet made in 2014. So basically, desktop > laptop > tablet for power IF MADE IN THE SAME YEAR. Therefore, with my logic a laptop made in 2014 would be more powerful than a tablet made in 2014 but if they don't make the laptop anymore... Sorry I was getting a bit carried away there, but I am passionate about these sort of things. I feel like I was just settling into the world of laptops when the tablet comes along and ruins it.
Some people can't wait for gas prices to go down, they buy the most fuel efficient car they can find and usually it comes with solid performance too. However, you won't be getting as much space to put things like camping gear or kids.
the people that buy SUVS expect them to be heavier and cost more gas. It comes with the territory. Yet they are sometimes still willing to pay for the extra fuel if it makes them feel safer or if they need the extra room for say, a family. My needs are the SUV, your needs are the Prius. If they stop making SUVS I'll be screwed, see?

laptops can be the same a pcs the year... they just cost twice as much =/
but yeah lol, you have a good 10 years I think before you have to worry about the tablet being near the laptop ..and probably another 10 after that before it starts pusing laptops out of the picture... so if thats where most of your hate is coming from... it shouldnt be.. think of it this way...
They are going to have to research tech to make these tablets powerful... these things are smaller than laptops... so as they get more advanced and smaller tech for these tablets...what do you thinks going to happen to your laptops? there going to very much so benefit from this research as well, maken them better and cheaper. but dont worry.. you can get into laptops without the fear of tablets for many many many years to come.
I don't care about price lol. Also, if you read that last bit about cars, so what your saying is they will make a medium-small SUV that has the fuel efficiency of a prius then right? THat doesn't sound too bad as long as I can get one with a 12" screen or bigger I'd be happy I guess. As long as they don't stop making keyboards THEN I'd just assume kill myself.
Well yeah but that's too much money for what your getting. I expect something to be decently expensive, but if your paying 3 times the money for something 1/2 as good, no way. If it's the same specs but double the price for added mobility, I'd take that. Also, I don't like the changing button thing.
Heh.. Laptops.. Biggest problem with them is they can't be conveniently upgraded. I stay away from tablets and the such because I know that it's a want and not a need. I've bought many game consoles and stuff in the past and after awhile the novelty usually wears off and I end up never touching it. I'll probably be staying loyal to the PC the whole time. If i wanted to play games on the move I might consider a mobile device, but in a rocking train.. in a bumpy car ride meh.. I'd rather just plug-in and listen to music and sleep it off. There's no joy in a gaming session unless you can sit still and enjoy it for a few hours uninterrupted IMO.
During university my first investment was a laptop, it was great, I was able to take it to lectures take my notes bring them home on my laptop, saved the hassle of a lot of paper, assignments could be done anywhere. It was perfect
BUT
Then started Igaming, Warcraft 3, battlefield 2142, which my laptop could handle but it was very unimpressive, so I got into custom building my PC's and never looked back, and to be honest I don't think I ever will, people say that PC gaming is dying.. I say bullshit. console gaming is only popular in the young ins because having a respectable PC costs 5 times more... for a console everyone has the same.... there are no spec requirements when you buy a game. I won't ever game seriously on a console or a laptop
PC attracts those that like to be in control of what they are using, which IMO majority of gamers are after.
I've tried multiple apps for the ipad 2 to try and find a way to get away from my computer and work on maps. But the only one that works the way I want it, actually where you touch is where the mouse goes, is so laggy. Zeldarules recommended the app to me saying it was pretty good. When it's so laggy that I might as well use teamviewer which is free. Anyways triggers and data is possible in teamviewer since you don't require drag controls like in terrain.
Wait, what? I didn't read every post, but is the argument here that tablets are bad because they can't play MW3 or high end games? This is a fact, tablets will never be used for high end gaming. Ever. Keyboards provide the physical orientation of where your fingers are, which is why they are so good for gaming. Have you ever tried using the Naxi Zombies app? It is terrible, simply because the controller is a touch screen.
Now onto what a tablet is to be used for. Convenience. They take about 3 seconds to power on. They run only apps, so you don't have to worry about a bunch of "lag" when starting up. There are apps that allow you to buy more apps. There is nothing like that for the PC. You don't have to go to the store to buy an app. The apps are like, $2. The touch screen allows for a ton of flexibility, especially in situations where, for example, you have to annotate an e-book.
Some of the other things are that you don't have to worry about upgrading. Just like XBOX, you don't have to buy a game worrying about whether the tablet can handle it or not. Everyone has the same thing, so the game or app is made to run smoothly.
Are tablets made for gaming? No. Do they have a ton of practical uses? Hell ya they do. For pretty much everything other than gaming, tablets are awesome.

To answer the initial question, yes you can use a tablet for the editor. How the limitations of it are though, I have no idea.
At least the 'preferences' suggests it has support:P

That's not for Tablet PC's or whatever you want to call them. That's for Graphic Tables that you use for drawing Artwork, etc on the PC.
