On one hand, Fountains of Wayne is in that list, which is awesome. On the other hand, there's One Republic, Train and Taio Cruz (which you probably only mentioned because you liked "Break your heart", amirite?). I can still respect people who listen to Gaga, but if I had to name three artists that examplified the decline of modern day pop music...
I'll admit it, their songs are mainstream (in a bad way), but I don't listen to those bands when I want something deep or good. They just sound decent on a superficial level to me. Actually I kinda got sick of hearing Break your heart the 1039042523805 times it played on/at Pandora, Radio, dances, et cetera.
I've got to say, I stand in Mozared's boat. I'll listen to virtually anything that pleases my ears. I don't care if it's popular, or hated, sung by teenagers, mainstream, or largely unknown : I like what I like. To add some artists to this thread :
The Fountain OSD, composed by Clint Mansell. I've been listening to all tracks ever since I saw the movie ; I can never hear enough.
All albums of Jewel. I grew up with my parents listening a lot to her, more so when they needed to relax. As a result, her voice has this inherent power to immediately calm me.
Bob Marley's reggae. Quite possibly the only reggae I ever listen to, but man, do I love it!
Recently came across Tom Pyrdol when browsing the SC2 official forums. Apparently he's the author of several songs played on piano. You can look him up on Youtube ; ''Annie'' is a jewel.
Jesse Cook and his guitar sound marvelous. No vocals to be heard, either.
Side note: I like Era too. One of my closest friends, who made me discover the band, personally *knows* one of its members. (:
lol He's no crooner or musician, it's true. It's more his political activism that keeps me listening. He personally went to Afghanistan to oversee the building of an orphanage which he funded from his album and concert sales.
Yeah, i hate hip hop and rap and stuff (then again i like death metal which has about as much tune as that did :/). But i think i prefer him to people like flo rider, kanye west etc.
In my opinion there needs to be only one genre of music, Soft and relaxing.. None of this dark evil music!
Hah, no. There has to be enough genres to make everyone satisfied imo. But we could still get rid of hypertechno and other stuff with NO musical feeling.

As you can see, I've put the bands in 3 different categories. The bolded ones is my current favorites. But this changes from time to time ;)

Trivium. No others can beat it! Also, 30 seconds to Mars and Indica.

Immortal Technique!

That is not music. That is farthest from music I ever heard.

It's music to my ears. :)

TERRIBAD! My ears have just survived (or not) terrible terrible damage via music!
Ok, so I exaggerated a bit. So what?
When I saw the video, I thought: "ok, finish the announcement and start singing the song. ... wait the video is over?! Oo"
It's a matter of taste though, if he likes it, I have no problem with that.

= WIN MUSIC!
That vaguely reminds me of .
any one here like Disturbed
i gota say there new song just another way to die is all goody =P
There's so much fail in the comments to that video... Song itself seems a lot like all death/trash metal I've heard.
And Kiwi, Disturbed is pretty cool. They can be somewhat generic, but at least they're original in having their own style.
