Reckoning will definitely be a different game. I played the demo quite a bit, and I was surprised by the amount of content in it. You only have 45 minutes time, but there is much stuff to discover. I played it like 5 times and always discovered completely different areas.
From what it seems, Reckoning vs Skyrim boils down to Skyrim having the better, more believable world, better story, better characters, but Reckoning gets a WAY better fighting system. I enjoyed Skyrim quite much, but the fighting was a little dull. For reckoning, the fighting will play an even bigger role, and it will be the main reason to get that game. Since Skyrim was about 75% fighting and Reckoning will probably focus even more on it, its just logical to especially focus on this aspect on the game, and it is definitely a reason for me, to play the game, especially from an analytical point of view: Why does it feel as good as it does? ;)
In the demo, the fighting felt incredibly good already. It was very dynamic, fluent, hardly repetitive, even with the low amount of moves available. The different weapons had a unique feeling to them, without making half of them feel redundand. Also it looked awesome.
However, there are huge amounts of bugs still, mostly non-combat related. So I assume, they focused mainly on the combat system and will finish up and polish the other stuff for the release.
If it is worth it you will need to decide for yourself. The demo gives you a fairly good amount of content and you can see, what you can expect. If you want more story, a more realistic world and graphics, more roleplay in general, Skyrim would be the way to go. If you want more fighting, fast pacted action and dont have a problem with comic graphics and dont care THAT much about the story, I don't think you are making a mistake. Also they announced hundreds of hours of gameplay, not even including all sidequests and stuff, just main storylines.
And yes, they will probably DLC the hell out of this game, probably straight at release.
Considering my experience with the demo, this is the best game I've played in ages. It appeals to ALL of my interests, especially the super-wide array of customizability, and I'll download each and every DLC to this game. As said before, there are a lot of bugs, but the gameplay just blows that out of the window.
This has also caught my intrest. I have not played the demo, but from what Iv seen in the videos the combat and customization seems really interesting. Still bit so so will I get this or not. Perhaps Ill try the demo first and then decide.
I watched the Day9 and TotalBuscuit streams on Tues. and it looked fun, but I have enough games for now so if I do buy the game it will be a while. From what I saw it seems to have a problem with the game being too easy if you do a lot of side quests, the UI sucks balls and the attachement to NPCs is very very weak. On the other hand the combat is great.
I tested the game demo and YEA, I was like WTF IS THIS UIIIIII. I mean even if its for consoles and I was shocked how clunky the equipment system and all felt....
I think the combat is quite interesting, perhaps even amazing when you get to higher levels. But combat being only reason for getting it is not enough for me, it costs like 60€ or something -_-....so Ill have to skip this for now.
Ill probly watch day9 or force play it though (while mapping ofc)
Best game I have played in ages. Then again, Skyrim didn't appeal to me, so you might consider me kind of a nutta :) Anyways, the game is great, I have no problems with the UI at all, and why would you not pay the money for a gameplay-game, when it's this good? Consider it like any other game, just with more in-depth storytelling
There's a guy on sc2mapster that works for 38 studios. It is also 15 minutes away from me... Great company to work for and they really support the programmers (from what my friends tell me). I am definitely buying the game just to support such a great company.
I played the demo. Almost all the dialog bugged out and there was surprisingly little to do when you kill all the questgivers. ;P
That aside, I really enjoyed the game. The demo was quite long, and combat and story and chat were quite interesting, but despite that I still feel I may need to see more before I'm willing to drop $65 on it. It has definitely been added to my "Buy when on-sale" list.

I did play the demo an it was quite entertaining but noticed lack of depth to the plot. Well at least dialogs seemed a bit off.
So what are your opinions/experiences regarding the topic? Is it worth it? And what about EA? I assume they will DLC my ass off? What should I expect?
PS: no, I will not buy Skyrim instead

WAUW it's good!
Only around 30 hours of main storyline i think :)
