This is more retarded than the LAN and region thing combined...
One of my unbreakable rules is that I NEVER reveal any personal information on the internet to ANYONE. Except to services where I'm involved in, as I call it, "serious stuff", like paying/buying. Examples include: ebay, banks, paypal, web hosting, and.... battle.net (WoW subscription). I give them my personal info because I assume that there's a mutual trust.
Never in a million years would I register on a site like facebook, twitter (or any other of that new web 2.0 crap) and give my full, real name. No way. Never going to happen.
And now Blizzard pulls this... I will certainly not post on battle.net forums after this change, and if this is going to be retroactive (my previous posts will have my name revealed), then I lose all trust I had for Blizzard Entertainment.
I knew I should have registered as John Doe and not with my real name...
Everyone knows that blizz forums are a cesspool. In case you didnt even bother to read the full blue post, Blizzard's reasoning:
"The official forums have always been a great place to discuss the latest info on our games, offer ideas and suggestions, and share experiences with other players however, the forums have also earned a reputation as a place where flame wars, trolling, and other unpleasantness run wild. Removing the veil of anonymity typical to online dialogue will contribute to a more positive forum environment, promote constructive conversations, and connect the Blizzard community in ways they haven’t been connected before. With this change, you’ll see blue posters (i.e. Blizzard employees) posting by their real first and last names on our forums as well."
It it makes the bnet forums less of a cesspool, good. I rarely post and if I do post and they choose to google my name, they will get other people with my name, my dad, my grandfather, and my great grandfather who also have the same name, but not me. Also, as far as I know, very little of my information is on those information collection websites. (I've looked a few times)

Sigh...What the hell if Blizzard thinking?
I never posted much on those forums anyway. Seems Blizzard is really trying to become more like Facebook every day.
I don`t know why good customers have to suffer when activision is trying to make Starcraft II be stupid-friendly.

Not to play rent-a-mod or anything, but there's already a thread on this in General Chat under "Blizzard has lost it"

If only I had used a time machine when posting this, I would have known that someone else is going to post the same thing half an hour later :P
Just wait for a mod to merge them :P
Yar, just stick to the thread in the General Chat.
dunno what Blizzard was thinking... but hitler on the other hand.... enjoy :P
