Honestly the fact that the forums don't take a minute to load is enough to sell me on everything else. I basically stopped bothering with the forums because of how terrible and bogged down the coding of them was. These are one million times better, if I did have to make some observations about the rest of the site I would perhaps say that maybe making it so that header images worked again.
That tiny little icon used to expand across the page and look good instead of unreadable and tiny.
Also how do relationships work? I notice the dependencies and dependents but how do we set those up? Antioch for example depends on Mass Recall, so being able to set that up in there would be useful.
As I said though I love the forum, and like that we can track our/others posts a lot better now, and expect to be becoming more active on the forums here once again now that they aren't the worst thing since unsliced bread.
Not tried the new search yet but considering how broken the old one was I doubt it will be any worse. All new sites have teething problems. I am sure within a week it will be business as usual.

The bit about the forums really makes me happy to hear. I'm hoping that the negative things that have changed are heavily outweighed by the good - because we understand we can't make everyone happy. Though, we'll try are darnedest.
The layout of those pages is pretty stuck the way it is. We share that layout across all the sites - makes it a heckuva lot easier to update and keep things in working order for you guys. As you can imagine, we're heavily focused on functionality over beauty/glamour right now. Hence the sleek and trim site design.
I don't want to make any promises of that changing. That doesn't mean I don't take note of it though. The reality is, it's my job to communicate these things - and I will :]
If I were in your shoes, I'd probably agree. I hate watching my own communities change. Drives me insane. But if it were between them changing and moving forward so that they could continue to exist, at least in some form - I'd eventually grow to accept it. In this case, I hope it's not just change to exist, but change to grow and thrive.
We won't make perfect decisions, but I at least hope you give us enough time and let us work out all the kinks. I don't think your rant is at all out of place or out of line and I appreciate that. So hopefully that helps at a little at least.
As mentioned, we want that feedback. I can never promise that we'll make changes you will like, but I'll continue to read and listen just in case an opportunity arises where one of those ideas/suggestions has a good place to go :]
I guess your right about moving forward, however, I do not understand why such a massive change was necessary. I have grown accustomed to the basic interface of SC2 mapster - Is there a way to bring more of that simple design back? Personally, having the latest "Top News" on the front page, and recently active forums in the upper left corner was very convenient. I understand people such as you are trying to make everything better and more compatible, but I'm finding the "5 file attachment limit" very problematic for asset makers, and terrainers that show off there work via images. I love the new text editing system, however, The only thing I don't like is the account personalization and front page - Thats it...
If you work on those two ( I would LOVE the old personal account editor back ) I would have no problems at all. Perhaps ( A suggestion, perhaps have a poll? ) bring back the dark black background of mapster. I always liked the eye-easy look of mapster...

:D I have zero comments about the old search.
And I hope that's the case - I'm doing my best to make sure I stay involved with this one. Not gonna lie, I'm not an SC2 guy but for some reason this community has grown on me. I'm like the creepy guy that's been watching through the window.
So you cannot give the option for moderators to give each site the chance to have a stationary image as the background (similar to what has been done for the bar at the far top)?
Main problem with black on white text in general is eye fatigue with extended periods of reading especially if screen brightness is high. So from a medical perspective changing all sites from a pure white background would be good.

Is there any way to embed an image in the description? I just found that, so actually this is not a problem at all I already figured out how to do what I want :)
Also not sure if this is the kind of feedback you are looking for but it's always bugged me that we have Map Review, Map Feeback, and Map Suggestions/Requests but not 'Map Discussion' or something, we basically use the feedback forum for that but it's really not what it is mean for ... even just renaming Map Feedback to Map Feedback/Discussion would in my opinion clear up something that has always seemed a little confusing to me.
The old search on master would bug if you used more than a single word bringing up 75% of results that did not even contain either word on any page of the thread. The sort by date was also busted being unable to sort search results so that the newest threads were at the top or bottom.
Surprised you had not been notified because it had been that way for so long many people on mapster have given up complaining about it.
Edit: The Reply button seems to not be functioning atm...
Unfortunately, the massive change was because we moved to this platform. It wasn't a requirement so much as it was "just how it works" in this case. We use the same site structure and backend code for a variety of our properties. This allows us, as a still relatively small team, to keep a much better handle on bugs, security, spam, etc across the entire network. With everything running that same code base, if users on wow.curseforge.com find a bug, you get the benefit.
Of course, that comes with plenty of trade-offs. But internally, we've made the decision that security and bugs come absolute top priority. Because we can't offer a good experience if we can't guarantee that issues will be resolved in a timely manner.
As for the other concerns that have been brought up here - they're all being addressed or will be addressed. We've already made a few changes and will continue tweaking and moving and pushing and prodding until we find a happy balance. Christmas is coming up soon, most people are out of the office, it's a perfect time for me to settle in and get all this feedback together so I can give the developers plenty to do for their New Years Resolutions.
Just a quick recap:
Site design is likely stuck as it is for now - I know the old site seemed more simple because it's what you were used to, but as an outsider I find this site much more simple. Time might help with that (if not, that's okay! We still care how you feel!)
Having a more integrated dynamic front end - that's something I'll definitely review with the team first of the year. I don't know enough about that aspect of the site to give an opinion or an official statement just yet.
5 file attachment limit is something I'm looking into currently. I'll have something definite with a how-to snippet soon to help address how that works, why it works the way it does etc along with any changes I find need to be made on our end.
Not sure about the personal account editor - that's another thing I'll have to sit with the team about.
Phew! I hope that helps. :] Don't get discouraged! Give it a day or so.
So here is the final question: It's more of a "Medical Perceptive" as stated by DrSuperEvil. Will the white background be changed back to a more eye-appeasing tone? Even now I squint when I look at the bright screen before me. Perhaps an image of some sort, or just plain dark gray...

Hard subject to approach without ruffling feathers, but it's hard to quantify eye fatigue person to person and the reality is the surrounding ambience is much more critical than the actual text and backgrounds. It's also a large portion of personal preference.
For instance, proper brightness on your monitor, contrast levels, whether your light is on or off in your room, etc. There's a reason why most GPS devices switch between light and dark based on the time of day and how much ambient light is available.
I personally prefer more neutral colors in my IDE's with lower contrast - dark gray background with light gray/light colored text, but whether or not my eyes are strained has far more to do with how long I'm staring at my monitor and the quality of the light emanating from my monitor and my surroundings. I tend to work in a dark room, so this makes sense.
Well, tried to use the search function and got this :
Well, that was unexpected.

An error has occurred while trying to save the file you uploaded: You have exceeded your maximum upload limit of 4.77 MB. This limit is based on your highest role on the site.
On the assets page and maps page the ordering defaults to most popular, this is very bad for people with less popular maps like me rather than last updated, even worse is that even if you set it to last updated when you get back on the the tab after you ahve closed it, it goesback to most popular.
The reputation from the last version of SC2 mapster seems to have nothing to do with today's version
I apologize if I have said something that has already been addressed, But I do not have the time right now to read it all (i am in rush)

Reading the only unread thread in a forum doesn't mark the forum or the thread as read on the forum homepage, unless the last update as you.

What a surprise , I assume all the spam cause the migration?
Let's hope the spam will stop for good.
Well imo the option to change background would be awesome.
Also, what happen to my project page? the layout, the settings all change.
