What do you think about changing it to: "We, the undersigned, being users of StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, ask that Activision Blizzard replace or change the current popularity system.
We regard the current system as flawed, specific descriptions of those flaws can be found on battle.net, sc2mapter.com, and other resources, and want Activision Blizzard to take measures to improve the system in the interest of the community.

Just saying, 1000 people hating something of blizzards isnt going to scratch the surface of blizzards "Care-Box", 50,000, mabye even 25,000 AT LEAST might raise an eyebrow. All in all though, I do hope it changes.

Blizzard have never really paid attention to petitions, even one of their forum rules are against them. The difference between this and Real ID is that Real ID had LOADS of complaints everywhere constantly for days after days, Popularity has had a lot of complaints but to a smaller degree and it's the same arguments going on.
I've been looking in General Chat the past few days to see how the threads about the popularity system would go about, because most of us (from what I've seen) are tired about multiple threads about the same topic. And this petition-attempt turned quite fast into a discussion and argument.
From here on end, I will be referring discussions about the popularity system to KratsAU's thread Suggestions for Improving the Popularity System [IMAGES ADDED for the reason that it's a thread about constructive feedback. If you're going to say that something is bad, it's better if you do it in a constructive way and try to find alternatives, and that's what Blizzard is looking at (I'm not necessarily saying that I know that they've looked at KratsAU's thread, I ment that they look at constructive feedback rather than complaints) , there's no point in whining for the sake of whining (it doesn't help anyone).
I also want to make it clear that I don't find this particular topic one of the likes mentioned on the contrary to KratsAU's thread, and I'm not saying that you are whining. (Just putting an example in my last paragraph to help anyone understand my reasoning).
I will let this stay open for now to see if you'll go anywhere with this, but if it goes off-topic and turns into an argument again... I'll be back.
We had a front-page poll about that awhile ago.
I don't think any petition is going to have any effect. If you want to create a real uproar, get the popular map-makers to delete their maps. You'll probably see uproars nonstop on starcraft2 custom game forum when they can't play their favorite maps.
But I doubt popular map-makers share the same opinions as you guys tho.
That's cuz popular map makers make maps that are 5 minute long tug maps.
Everyone at Blizzard knows what SCII-Mapster is! So we got a voice!
or otherwise: just erase all Maps lower than page 3, cause they are unplayable!
wait.. you think they are perfectly capable of creating a better system all by themself but not to see all by themself that the current system is broken? the system they came up after a long developement phase that is. seems kind of a paradox to me O'_o

Stop play attention whores about this and develop better maps. If your maps are not on the top of the list, that's just because they SUCK.
Sure. The top ten maps are supersuper great! And i want to play them the next 6 month only. nothing else. I never want play a other map thats not in top ten! Because they are the greatest! And what a luck: other maps will not come to top ten, cause if u want to play online with other guys->u need to play the top ten! In page 3 u can play alone!

I hate the Threads 2, but not so much like i hate this fucking system! Blizz know this epic fail, dunno why they cant change it. I think its maybe cause the missing LAN mode. They want us not to open games.

i now play a td from page 1.. its so terrible. every time i start a map that is ridiculously fucked up that even the author should notice it, i get the urge to flame them from the bottom of my heart. but well.. that are faces only a mother can love. anyway every map published should require an email for "feedback" .. or postal code for bombs.
They already said that they are aware of the popularity system problem and that it will be improved, what's that petition for?
When the market will come out (Dustin Browder said more ore less with heart of the sworm release) sure it will have a cool rating and search system, maybe they will do partial improvements on the road.
You can't make a petition to force them to finish something faster...
@DeathStair: Go Blizzard has stated they hate petitions and prefer constructive threads. With the new forum "Like" system it should be hard to get a thread about the popularity system noticed.
I think I saw 6 or 7... hundreds of those threads in the last five months.
Thing is, they don't read the Custom Maps forum.
I'm guessing they'll make it so that the improvements are only for Heart of the Swarm. Those aren't going to be normal expansions are they? They're like stand alone games right? It wouldn't be making them finish it quicker. It would be make it higher on the priority list. Basically they say it's a problem but it's not big enough to really care. It's like a fly on your arm that flies away and keeps coming back. They'll say what they need every time it's brought back up.

I highly doubt SC2 is being pirated any less then before.
A)Pirates don't play online anyways
B)Someone will make their own custom servers allowing pirates to play online amongst themselves, which will still be quite a big number
Ok. It's nice that you want to discuss this, but I don't think that will get us anywhere.
Some people have said that Blizzard will improve the current popularity system. I did not know this, and this changes the whole situation! My general impression was that the way we could play custom maps would stay the same.
If you really think that the system will be improved with the next expansion, then I agree that a petition would be a waste of time. To blame them for being a bit slow with their update would indeed be whining, and I don't see how a petition could have any change. If that is the situation I will happily close this "project." BUT I REGRET NOTHING !! :)

Again: This is to clean up the forum a bit and because most of us don't want a bunch of threads about popularity flooding the forums.
Just be patient guys... blizzard always showed to know what do to.
They always find the right solution after sometimes, they are just slow :D
