I agree with you that strategy is important. Otherwise, there is no hope of high level play. Speaking of such, this ought to be your favorite non-mazing TD :P.
Yup, and that is why I am optimistic. From the looks of things, it appears that the primary focus has gone into the various strategies and tactics that can be used in the game, which is AWSEOME. Honestly I can't think of a single Bnet TD that has done this. (Apparently there were a couple WCIII ones that did, but I never played)
So many Tds are just "Put down one tower, upgrade it a bunch of times, and then don't build anything else", which is dumb, and I don't think that is what this is going to be.
However, there is one thing that I like about mazing TDs that I hope you are going to solve in this game. In mazing TDs, just making one upgraded tower is stupid. You have to wait a while to get a good maze going, and then start upgrading or you will lose. (In a good mazing TD at least). From my experience, having a tower with 30 different levels is never a good thing. More towers with less upgrades is better, and I hope that it is something you have done.
What I meant was that a game that takes strategy but isn't fun isn't going to get played. I mean yeah, usually strategy does equal fun, but if it doesn't, then something is wrong.
And on the point, because what I said above I don't think was really what you were saying, regular TDs are really a different style of game. It is like comparing Nexus Wars with Desert Strike. Both Tug of War, very different styles that both appeal to different people. And I have to agree with you on this one, I usually tend to like mazing TDs more because typically they take more strategy. However, a good normal TD (Like this looks like, and I am hoping it will be) could be an exception to that rule.
Your post reminded me of Green TD where the first 7 or so (out of 30 something) upgrades were useless at level 1. At any rate, your hope is fulfilled because this is not a game like that. You can break down the towers into basic (3 upgrades), single element (4 upgrades), dual element (2 upgrades), and triple element (1 upgrade).
@ Karawasa: I played Element TD in WC3 and loved it. I just wasn't sure if it would work out in SC2. After watching the video I am.
Great work - can't wait to play it.
@ Ousnius: You did a really nice job there! I'd love to work with After Effects as well, but hey - who will lend me 999$? ;P
tinting is just to show what element the tower is. some visual feedback
the only towers that use the same model for each tier are the basic ones and the periodic towers i think.
it starts to get hard to find new models that can be used as towers when you have this many towers

Well it looks exteremely polished, but too bad its just another td...I wonder if it can offer anything new after wc3 elemental td. But it should satisfy the needs of average bnet player for sure :D

Just wait until you play it. I'd be most curious to hear what you think afterwards.

Once again, just opinions, just trying to help :)

Wait, is Green TD that map where you built four towers and proceeded to just upgrade those all game long?
Yeah, that would be an example of the most boring TD ever.
I'm really looking forward to this, I loved Element td in Wacraft 3.
Lol yes, Green TD was the map I was referring to. The best part is that Blizzard featured that map, if I remember correctly.
Great to be back and part of the community again!
PC Gamer (the magazine) also featured Green TD.
EDIT: Or maybe it was Computer Gaming World. I forgot which.

Can you please explain the tools used to make the video. Thanks.

You must have been angry.
Wait... WTF would they do that? No way.

I'm over it now.

Eagerly awaiting Meph's reaction.
The good thing about element td is its gameplay since wc3, of course visual is a must if this map need to survive. Now it seems to satisfy both.

It's out, go try it and tell me.
? It should be wind not nature my friend because nature and earth are the same thing. nature isn't an element the elements are what makes up nature

That is your interpretation of it :P.
