sorry if i've got anyone's hopes up with the thread title ;p.
So i've been thinking that it would be awesome if i could talk to my the friends on my sc2 friends list, from within the galaxy editor.
It would be great; i could be editing a map, and still see who is online; continue talking to my friends; friends could ask me to play a few games; if one of my friends is also editing, i could talk to him while he is editing (and give/get help ).
- Does anyone think this is a good idea? Or think this just be a distraction?
- Does anyone have the technical know how, to write a pidgin (http://www.pidgin.im/) pluggin to allow talking to people on the sc2 friends list
(pidgin already supports: msn, irc, google talk etc. protocols), <there is a ticket related to Battle.net Classic http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/5388 . none related to Battle.net 2>
- I want to request this feature, where abouts should i request blizzard to make it?
note: you must answer all three questions above. or your reply will be horribly flamed and electrocuted
If you want to be able to chat with friends while making/testing map, follow these steps
- Open the editor
- Open sc2 (not launch from editor)
- Login sc2, stay at the menu
- Back to work in the editor, test map
- You now can test map while being logged on battlenet, realID friend will see you as Editing a map or something like that
Note: Not guaranteed to work 100%, may have to take several tries. It feels so retarded that blizzard does not allow you to login to the editor and chat with friends by default.

Yeah, but remember you might not want them to chat to you:/. Or maybe you`d only like to chat to certain friends while editing. Not like your 2v2 buddies or such.
With realID, You`ll have friends playing WoW who could start talking to you, and well yeah, It would be hard to concentrate.
You can always go offline. Regardless, you appear as online in the current state, and people can message you, but you never get to see what was said or say anything back.
G'day Chumps and Chumpette's,

However, if they were going to do this it would have to be last on their priorities.
And no, I have no Idea on how to make this plugin. Annd Blizzard should place a bar for the 'Chat' where the old 'Terrain' bar used to be for war3

I think it's a great idea, as long as it is optional.

You only have to log in to publish, so its indeed optional

really? hahaha, well thats bound to cause a lot of problems. I bet alot of friends of map makers feel like their being ignored when this happens.
so it sounds like some people around here would like this feature, ill post something on the battle.net forums about it then.
cheers =)
Aww, I got my hopes up expecting rainbows and marshmallows :/

lol ;p, sry. You've been bad, so get no marshmallow.
Alrighty, ive posted this over on the bnet forums. Hopefully i can drum up some attention, and maybe get it implemented =) http://sea.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/76337768
also, to everyone here, keep the feedback coming

yea it would be okay i guess. what would be really cool is if they added support for multiplayer map making, at least through some kind of lan or p2p.
