I notice this site has a huge number of maps for download. But what do I do with the files once I have them? None of the maps I looked at include any kind of accompanying documentation and the maps section of the site has no instructions.
That may work for campaigns and stuff where it's just you, but I'm trying to load a melee map. When I drag and drop it bypasses the screen where you add AI players and the map ends as soon as it loads.
You have to load the map in the editor and publish it privately for yourself. Or hope that the creator has already published it, but then you would have to find it in the messed up server browser...
That's the best Blizzard could do??? Why does the game even have a maps folder then?
For map development. If you just want to play a map go through battle.net.
This website needs a giant disclaimer on the front page or something... "If you want to play a map, check if it's published on battle.net first. Downloading maps from here is primarily for development and for sharing unpublished maps."
Assuming all the other players on the melee map are edited to be AI controlled that's fine. But if you load a normal melee map that way you start the map with no opponents, automatic game over.

just drag it over to your starcraft2 shortcut or .exe
Is that all? lol. So what's the maps folder for?

@clawcity:
You could open it in the editor and add computer opponents otherwise.

One way is also just open the map into editor and test document. Works for single player maps well.

So when you've finished making your maps, your only option is to hope people find it amoungst the millions of others on battle.net?
Just tested edcbabe method and its good while you don't see map when you start it that way.
