Hi,
I'm trying to find a kickass abreviation or name for a terran force for my map's lore.
Here's a short description :
It's a small in number but powerful independant force, that include mainly on UED left behind/survivor brillants scientists, but have some ex-Confederate resistance groups and ex-Mercenaries that protect their researchs. So it's a terran force their main quality is their advanced technology that came from Earth during Broodwar, and their dominion Psi Disrupter that allowed them to control a small brood of zergs.
They seek technology advancement to overwhelm other races and other terran forces. They are controlled by a mad scientist.
Any ideas for a kick ass name or abreviation (like UED or Sons of Khoral) ?
As I'm not english native I can't come up with an idea...
@progammer:
Well by kick ass I mean that "sounds good"
The force is not related to Khoral or any planet so Khoral agency doesn't work, thanks for trying to come with ideas though
I'd like it to sound plausible into the starcraft universe ! Any idea ? (loled at KAC)
Geminus Prime
Nebulous Rising
Core 11 (Name + Num combination types, Like "Traveler 59" The Scrin Faction from Cnc3 Kane`s Wrath)
Libri Custodis (Latin for "Library/knowledge" guardians)
It depends. You have to ultimately think and settle on what you like, but there are naming conventions and rules of design when it comes to naming too. If you give enough lore and attention to the Name behind the faction, It becomes believable no matter what the name is.
why is it guys cannot come up with good names lol, always resulting to something vulgar like kick ass (<3 u programmer)
Try these when brainstorming names for a team force(no particular order):
1. Use a synonym of the word 'force' in the teams name. I took the liberty of thesaursing the word force and came up with these words - armed force, artillery, battalion, battery, brigade, cavalry, column, command, company, corps, detail, division, horde, flight, flock, formation, infantry, legion, outfit, patrol unit, platoon, regiment, soldiers, soldiery, squad, troops, wing.
3. Combine force and phonetic alphabet words. Here are examples: Charlie Company, Bravo Brigade, Delta Division Echo Wing, Foxtrot Legion
4. For more fantasy, use WoW or Mythology names - Azeroth, Stormwind, Ironforge, Silvermoon. Zeus, Medusa, Anubis, Ra, Loki.
5. Use name-item sequences. Here is the format - [name]'s [noun]. Here are some examples - Yao's Strength, Twinmold's Might, Mozard's Hammer, Queen's Shield.
6. Use adjective-animal sequence, (think of native names). Here are some examples - Flying Eagle, Running Bear, Sitting Turtle.
7. Use the force-of-noun sequence. Here are some examples - Calvary of Shiva, Platoon of Dragoon, Flight of Bahamut.
8. Use Oxymorons - Hells Angels, Pyro Water, Bloody Healers.
10. For more basic miltary chic names use numbers - Task Force 141, 501st Legion, 666.
In my War of Fantasia http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/war-fantasia/ map (which i desperately need help in) I have created Team names of 40 nations. These steps helped me find a sold pattern in team naming. Here are some of the names i've made (thats featured in my map) -

He has got to use Twinmold's Might as his factions name.
Thanks you for your answer that's exactly what I expected, and some made me rofl.
I couldn't find with a good looking faction name because I'm not english-native and even if I can hold a conversation in english, I have trouble for more specific vocabulary. I wouldn't have to ask for help for medieval fantasy faction though :)
I'll keep you informed when I chose a fitting name. Thanks !
@Twinmold : totally agree with the union thing.
@Keyeszx:
You've played too much Resident Evil ! ^^
Umbrella is cool but would be too much like RE though. And I particulary hate what they made out of the licence since RE4. God, it's such a blasphemy.
I still love Wesker. I just hate what they did with 5. 4 was slightly ok but it went more action shooter than horror survival. It's a shame. LONG LIVE WESKER!!!!
What about Terra-Pandas. Nobody would think much of someone who names themselves after pandas. You could use that as some jokes if you have dialog.
@Keyeszx:
Wait. That wesker ? That kung-fu japanese matrix-like wesker ? It's just so unoriginal that made me want to throw up. He looks like a vampire supervillain from some comics. The wesker I used to know was just a common traitor. With sunglasses, that is, but a traitor. Not a japanese parody of agent smith. Make it a mutant would have been cool, but that's just not Resident Evil. It's a shame how the series went wrong and bad on so many levels.
I played RE2 then RE1 was I was a kid, and really like those. They were actually horror video games. Now RE is nothing but an action video games with impossible movement control.
Terra-panda sounds like an appril joke but like the "Terra-nova"-like idea. I'll see about that when I have time.

I'm not sure how would you define an acronym as kick ass, does it sounds kick ass when pronounced ? or is it abbreviated for some kick ass name ?
Still, KAC = kick ass confederation (dont take it seriously, think of better abbreviation if you think the acronym is kick ass enough)
korhal agency smt. .. (on top of my head as i'm waiting for the browser to reload
The OP's?

That sounds more like something out of Warhammer 40000.
Bear Zombies.
Union of Advancement.
As the force consists of people from different backgrounds I would atleast suggest Union or something similar to be included in the name.
CYBER bear zombies. (Needs to be something about technology)
Anyway,
Alpha Wing (remnants of Alpha Squadron?)
Iron Hand
The Collectors (.. of Technology?)
Union of Terra

Maybe they are created from an manufactured zombie virus? Then they don't have to be cyber bear zombies.
He has got to use Twinmold's Might as his factions name.
@Yaos01: Go
Starcraft Death Nazi's from Afghanistan? Oh wait, that probably wouldn't make it past the filter.. how about THE FIST?
Edit: In all seriousness tho, Exigenist, Ziferous or Titanous? Don't have to mean anything really.. just sound cool.
Umbrella Union
U.U
Such an awesome name. Give them a custom decal that looks like an umbrella. There is also the TP(Terra-Pandas)
Why use bears guys? It's all about pandas.
