I tried to post to bnet forums but couldnt for some reason. Anyway I was wondering if blizzard is going to do anuthing about the crappy system custom games currently have.
The news of changing the countdown thing is just slap in the face for me. I really didnt think there was any problem with that and its just plain mean to tell something so unuseful when there are tons of things that need improvement...
My list that NEEDS to be done
remove popularity system
enable players to leave the game during countdown (stops countdown if player leaves)
allow players to start the game instead of autostart (not a big problem, but I dont like auto start, especially since you cannot leave)
remove "custom" mode as standard when creating a game.
allow naming of maps (it would be easier to join games that you want to play, now its hard to know what game the game mode is going to be)
I got some ideas how to improve the system, instead of bringing back the wc3 system, but for now I just want the bullshit system to be removed and fixed from the all awfulness it has.
Others are just good ideas, and yea, second one is irritating a bit. What's the point of waiting 30 seconds ? Looks like that timer is there so if you change you mind so you can ALT+F4.
I agree with everything but the naming of maps. It's impossible.
Reasons:
There are over 750,000 people playing on battle.net. Let's say they're all playing the same 10 player map.
That's 75,000 maps.
Now let's say that each map has 4 game modes, and all of the players are distributed equally.
That's 18,750 maps per mode.
Now that's just for only one map. Imagine if there are hundreds of maps with different modes and different amounts of players. New maps would be impossible to find without knowing their exact name. If you plan on playing the same map for the rest of your SC2 lifetime, it's fine.
A better way would be have a drop down menu for maps with different modes. Ex.
Squad Arena |v|
Team Death Match [ x ]
Free For All [ ]
Capture the Flag [ x ]
This way, you'd be able to join the mode you'd want without having to see a different name. Although this method does not favour in-game choice.
What I think is a good replacement to the popularity system would be a rating system. Players would rate a map out of 5 or 10 for example and this way the bad maps are filtered out. New maps start with a default rating such as 2.5/3/5. Then there would be the option to sort by popularity, alphabetically, and publisher. Also a search function for joining maps. /end wall of text
Y its epic fail, I dont even play SC2 since there were like 2 good maps that I got bored off.
I cant play others coz of popularity system.
And I cant play melee coz I cant arrage games via chat coz there are no chat channels...
Dont know who developed that lame Bnet. But Blizzard fails this time.
If they wont fix those shits till D3, no more $$ to Blizz from me. I wont waste money for shit. And this game was wroth 45$ IMO. They just overpriced coz everyone would buy.
Anyway, great game, but its released unfinished what I knew it will happen. Its normal nowdays. Coz of pre-orders and, DLC's...
games tend to fix themself in a year if they survive till then. Marketing...

the second one is already implemented. its your problem if you don't use it
I think what he means is that it should not be there at all, you can set other modes as default but you can still switch to it if you have a map with multiple modes like 5v5 3v3 as an example. The 'custom' will also be in the list, so you can't always lock the game mode to prevent swapping.

Popularity shouldn't be removed. It just shouldn't be the only - or even the primary - way of sorting the list.

You can set another one as default but you can't remove the "Custom" variant, even if choosing that variant completely breaks your map.
