Good to live in small countries so they dont make shitty translations and dubs....
Pretty hilarious names though :)
btw why do they even translate and dub stuff? I would always prefer SUBTITLES over dub whatever the language is (Its pretty rare to see high quality dubs). I mean...if they own a computer I would assume the person can atleast read.
@zenx1: Go Maybe its cultural. People can read, but they can't read fast enough so subtitles aren't a good option. I always prefer subtitles but maybe only because I can read them perfectly. The olny high quality dub in my opinion is used by cartoons and CG movies. One of the reason dub sucks for other things is that lip sync is terrible and people know it. If anyone wants to know how bad it is just tell a friend to move their lips while you talk and see what happens. Its hilarious to see it in movies.
And people use computers, even with english system and softwares but its surprising to see most of them don't need to understand what they are reading. They memorize what each option or button does and not what that word is supposed to mean.
Well... Friend of mine plays SC2 in our native language, polish. I myself never used any version but english and when I heard some of the names they did put in...
Roaches for example are called "Karakany" (I don't even know what that is) or baneling - "Tępiciel" which can be roughly translated back as 'exterminator'. So yeah... i agree with translations of sounds like "nuke detected" and so on but units? Really?
Wait- you mean you don't like the name bomb-armadillo? What is wrong with you!? I'm not aware of how the bazillion language works, but is there a direct translation for names that aren't actually real? I mean, baneling- that's not a real word. Can't you just call it baneling anyways. Again, I don't live in Brazil so if that was the dumbest question ever, forgive me.

@sigmapl: Go So other languages have the same problem. Why bother replacing a name that isn't a real word with another name that isn't a real word and isn't related to the original name?
@zeldarules28: Go bazillion? lol. That's a good question. If Baneling isn't a real word then what to do about it? Hydralisk isn't a real word and it was translated to Hidralisca, mainly because "hidra" is the portuguese for "hydra" but as I said before "lisco" is a better translation for "lisk". So it is possible to create a new word still linked to the original, the translation team simply decided not to do it with some units.
Looks like you guys liked bomb-armadillo lol. Maybe as someone said the names in my own language can't sound as cool as they are in English.
