I'd like to hear you guys' thoughts about just how much content HotS is going to present to us.
One of my biggest problems in map-making (as I don't have the patience to delve into modelling and stuff) is the amount of creatures that is actually in the game. The normal units - like zealots, zerglings, marines, etc... - seem so boring and dull to me. Do you think that HotS will introduce more kinds of 'neutral units' (as in WC3)? And just how big is the amount of content in 'Blizzard DotA'?
EDIT: Now that I think about it, isn't this supposed to be in 'General Chat'? (;
There should be a decent number of WC3-like "creeps" to be had, namely the species you will be infesting in the campaign to gain their abilities, if they still keep that part anyway.
No matter how wide the set of new models brought to us by hots will be - everyone will use them, every map will be full of these models, so, there will be nothing special about them.
I'd rather rely on diablo 3 models. There should be realy tons of them.
But anyway, we can use wow models, they require like 2 clicks to be exported as .m3. Dunno, why ain't they being used widely.
P.S. I think modelling is still the best answer to the challenge of the lack of models. And it's pretty easy to learn it. It's a question of 1 day to learn how to create 3d forms, 2-3 days to learn how to create and apply a texture, and about a week to learn how to animate. And after 10 days of learning funny things anyone can become a modeller and create anything he needs.
They'll be adding the yeti at lest. But yes, everybody will use them. I'm guessing there will also be at least a few more creatures, since the zerg like to steal their DNA and whatnot. But yeah, WoW models are really useful for making your map unique.
Also, moved this to general as you requested.
