Map Night is a weekly gaming event where all sc2mapster members can come together and play fun custom maps all night. It gives people an opportunity to try out new custom maps in a casual environment. The goal is to promote custom mapping by increasing awareness. Map nights will be streamed live to sc2mapster, or the stream can be accessed directly at: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jmanv. Video recordings of the event will be available the following day.
People that want to participate will login to starcraft2 and join us at chat channel: sc2mapnight. This has changed. We will be using a seperate chat channel specifically for map night. This will handle overflow, and allow players who arrive late an opportunity to play. As players leave, or if we need more players for a game, I will invite any idle players in this channel. So if you don't get a chance to get in initially, stick around, play some games while you wait, and hopefully we can eventually get you involved. If there is a large number of waiting players, we may start a second session.
Most maps will be selected from the list below, but suggestions will be welcome as well. If you join us and mention your map, it will almost certainly be played. Once a map has been played, it will be removed from the list. It may be re-added to the list at your request. However, if you map has bugs, I will ask that you fix those before adding it to the list again.
Please understand when playing that some games will be of poor quality, be unpolished, or difficult to play. In order to find diamonds in the rough, we'll need to look in the rough. Please be patient and willing to give any map a chance.
Information:
Next map night will be held on Friday, April 8st at 9pm eastern time, all night.
Mandrilx has offered to host map night on Friday, March 25th in my absense. Feel free to join him in sc2mapnight.
NA Map Night
North America time: Friday 9pm (EST/GMT - 5), 8pm Central, 7pm Mountain, 6pm Pacific
hey, formatting sucks a bit (well, a lot actually, map list is catastrophic), and EST is definitely not GMT + 5. India is GMT+5 or something like that, and thats in the opposite direction of NA relative to Greenwhich. I think you meant GMT -6 :) (Hope i didnt sound rude, didnt mean to! Just pointing out mistakes ;) )
Btw, why the new thread?
And i'll update mine now with the new info about the US thread.

New thread because I am taking over as the host of map nights in the NA. QueenGambit works on Friday nights, and will be unable to attend. Therefore, I need to repost so that I could be the OP of the thread. Sixen will sticky this post shortly.
Sorry about the formatting. I hit "Post" when I meant to hit "Preview".
Also, do you have the steam address of the EU live stream? I'd like to post that here. [Nevermind. I guess I could have looked :P]
Haha yes. The case of the missing probe. :P It was a lot of fun, wasn't it? I'd love to see you again this week.
Please note that I've changed the chat channel to "sc2mapnight". You can still idle in sc2mapster as well, but "sc2mapnight" will be the primary meeting place for map night participants.
I'm excited! I can't wait until Friday...!

Pocket Warriors - A pokemon-style game with SC2 units and full banking. New demo coming soon!
I'll certainly try and be available for as many fridays as possible, but know that I work the graveyard shift from Saturday-Wednesday every week, and that my lady-friend works full time days, so we often go out friday nights since it's the only night we both don't work.
I'd have to say the funnest map we played was Identificationary, LOL. It's simple and fun, hahaha. It's just too bad that with a full group of players that you only get to go once and there are no time options.

There actually are time options in the lobby that I didn't notice. Because it's such a crowd-pleaser, and because we missed some fairly important game options, we're gonna give it another go.

Ahh im soo jealous im missing out. I watched the streamed of the 1st weekly map night. It was hilarious especially you guys playing the identificionary map. Be sure to monitor the us.battle.net map too http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/2089282331?page=1#0
Btw, that was definitely an olive, not a Watermelon lol
If I ever have time I'll consider attending. For now, I suggest linking to a timezone converter site to help people know what time it'll be in their timezone.
Sounds like a lot of fun. I watched one of the videos (the smash brother vid), which was fun, too. BUT more commentating, LESS and emphasize less moaning. Push to talk please.
I propose that we have this week's Map Night on the PTR. This means that we'd need to make sure that enough authors stick their maps on the PTR for us to play them. I know there's at least 3 on the list that are currently on the PTR (maybe more).

I really like this idea, but I think that if we do this both the player pool and the map pool will be diminished significantly. I don't think we'll be able to get enough players to join us, and I don't think we'll be able to get enough maps up to really make it worthwhile. I truly like the idea, but I think map night's a little immature as of yet to move to another location and expect people to follow. Perhaps in the coming weeks if the patch has still not fallen and we can get more players to post maps specifically for this purpose, we could do something like this. I don't think we're ready for it just yet. But thank you very much for the suggestion. I will continue to keep it in mind through the next couple weeks.

Yeah, at this point, map night on the PTR probably wouldn't work tonight. The map pool is still a little small, and it might just be good to give Blizzard a week or two to get the PTR custom map system a bit more stable.
Big changes to custom map list means that it's easier to get people together in games as well as just finding the maps we're wanting to create (search is fixed, etc.).
Get enough people trying out the PTR that we can give Blizzard good feedback about what works and what doesn't. Map nights are for players who are serious about wanting the custom map system to work. Playing on the PTR is the best way to help improve the custom map system.
Also, I was able to get the PTR set up on my computer in probably less than 5 minutes. It's really not hard at all.

At this point, I should say that my full Bnet name is Khalanil. Queen put my map/name on the list when it was a slightly more informal affair.
I look forward to Friday.
I'd like to put my Maelstrom TD map on the list (again). Just search Maelstrom in the create games section :)
Edit: and yea, i'll be there if i can.

Wow, a video made of my map, starcraft's popularity system rules, man.

I am most likely going to attend tonight. My lady friend's got some stuff more than likely so I have the night to myself.
As for the PTR... why??
What does that give us, really?
I know I wouldn't follow, regardless of the patch being live in 2 months or not.
