Indeed, maybe we have different definitions of impolite. I tend to not sugar coat things and some people are offended way too easily. That said, I completely agree that critiques must have a basis and that flames accomplish nothing.
I recall you agreeing with my arguments more often than not. You attempt to state I lack the right to make them because you feel I lack credentials. Exactly what you just stated you've never done.
There are objective ways to discuss a topic and there subjective ways. In almost every circumstance, objective discussion is far superior and more productive.
You consistently choose the subjective route.
Huh? Stating that you lack the credentials is not a bash or a flame. Are you that easily offended? I don't recall making any personal attacks against you. If you want a taste of what a real personal attack is, then simply ask for it via PM.
Objective versus subjective is all fine and dandy, except that there isn't a lot of topics in our corner of the internet that allow for objective discussion. Perhaps you could shine a light on this for me? There is nothing wrong with subjective as long as you recognize and account for it. Life is not a formula, sorry.
Just another thread with Karawasa attempting to demean people. I'm surprised.
Can you point to the demeaning? Is your skin really that soft? Next time you want to jump in and make an irrelevant post, please have something to point to.

Hate me if you will, I believe that many and most things in life and the internet are very easily objectified, but many people CHOOSE not to do so. Pretty much every map can be looked at in an objective sense: Quality of Graphics, Controls, Replayability, etc. And then you can form constructive criticism that helps everyone be better at creating the subject matter, rather than just forming insults.

No reason to hate. So let's follow your thought a bit longer. How do you objectify the quality of graphics? Are you talking about polygon count or texture resolution? You're certainly not talking about theme or proper selection of models/icons. How do you objective controls? Are you talking about something like X% of people can play it within X seconds of trying it? You're certainly not talking about X% of people giving verbal or written feedback. How do you objectify replayability? Are you talking about X amount of unlockables or X number of bonus missions? You're certainly not talking about depth of gameplay. So...?
How do you determine such subjectively? If you construct something with a subjective view, you're essentially following your instinct and hoping the target audience shares the same.
I don't even understand how it's possible to effectively design in such a way.
I'm not talking about objectifying things into numbers. You can merely describe how "good" these individual components are in words, and why, and perhaps some advice to fix it. For example, you could say "The buttons for abilities X and Y that work well together are too far apart to be comfortably used, maybe they could be on __ and __ keys instead."

Good is a subjective word. Your example is also subjective because it is too far apart for YOU to use them comfortably. Someone with bigger hands or a different keyboard would strongly disagree with you.

To paraphrase a time old adage, "put yourself in the shoes of others." What is wrong with instinct by the way?
Good CAN be a subjective word. It can also be objective if everyone seems to be having the same problem and it's somewhat widely recognized. Numbers are usually objective, but strongly opinionated numbers can be subjective as well.
Dear sc2mapster. Here is the latest conversation that Vexal and I had.

I don't deserve his bashing either

I guess my definition of impolite lies in the eyes of the person you're speaking too: Saying something that offends someone, whether you think it ought have, or whether you meant it that way. Of course, if you didn't know them well enough to know it would offend them, you aren't at fault. If you continue in that fashion or don't apologize, however, you are at fault.
I don't hold other people up to that bar, though. That would be immature and pointless. Just don't be surprised when some people think you're an arrogant prick when you act that way. :P (Edit: Not to mean that I think you are)
Anyways, it doesn't really bother me and its not really any of my business. I just wish their were a few more polite people with positive attitudes about the whole thing who are more outspoken to counterbalance people who have Roderigo's and Meph's sort of attitudes. (As examples - not meant as an insult)
I'm with Laertes though - everyone cool off; there is no point in continuing this thread.
Why all the bashing here... So many posts that shouldn't of been made at all. I would even consider half of it spam if it was on my own thread. Simply put, he didn't post this to be called a spoiled child nor a sad little man. Insults are in no way appropriate to use. Have you guys never heard of the saying, "If you have nothing good to say, then don't say anything at all"? Not to mention, the thread name is there for a reason. If you don't know what the hell it's talking about or care to find out, then don't even click on the link.

I don't know. I'm bored now.
I did notice that you only used the letter 'z' once in your last post.
What's up with that.

I think I'll just quote you as you make my case for me.

That's because you said reddit is a bunch of sexist men that hate women. Then you posted an IamA.
You're a hypocrite and I love reddit. I you have a problem with reddit you have a problem with me.

I try and only preach what I practice. In other words, I do not offend easily.
Yep. I was just getting a little out of my own comfort zone when I said some of those things.
Help us....
I demand justice.
