Please. It is embarrassing to me and accomplishes nothing. I'm aware my communication skills are less than stellar, but constantly bashing me is not something I deserve. Bashing my work is also uncalled for. When I give my opinion of other people and their ideals, my work should not be relevant in the conversation.
I have never once commented on a person's specific map or creation. I would appreciate the same from you all. It accomplishes nothing to directly insult what I've done, and it frustrates me and discourages me from attempting to release more maps.
I am posting this here because those this is directed to post both here and the Blizzard forums.
But I know what you mean. Why do people feel the need to bash other maps and\or map makers? Different maps appeal to different people. Different kinds of maps can, or should be able to, co-exist peacefully.
And the definition of a "good" map is how enjoyable it is to your target audience, and how long you can keep in enjoyable. If that map fits that description to its target audience, who are you to say it's poorly made? Certainly, it may be outwardly lacking in certain areas, but every map\map maker has his strengths and weaknesses.
But your map is popular, you'll have to deal with it. This kind of a post won't help. The best idea is to have as little to do with anyone who isn't willing to have a fair and constructive conversation while maintaining a friendly and\or neutral attitude.
Your map gets discussed because people are playing it
discussion on www (more or less): 80% bitching 15% thanks 3% help 2% love,
with a 5% of post out of 100% players
(that's for a "regular" type of mod of course)
(just for funsies):
80% love 15% help 5% bitching, with a 100% post out of 100% players, that's for a niche/community map
you get the audience's related to the type of map you get (if it gets played)... just remember that most people don't spam you... or other... they play and never comment/post
Karawasa, are you implying you've been to an art museum?
I'll rephrase my post.
Replace any instance of "me" or "my work" in my op post with "anyone" or "anyone's work".
Spot on Vexal, somewhere in there, you're doing just fine ^_^
The first thing anyone else does when they make a comment about anything is point out any reason they can think of to discredit the person.
The majority of posts are those blaming others for problems with their maps, or blaming other maps for wasting space.
This should stop or the community will die.
Spot on Vexal! I agree 100%, bashing people because you think their work is bad is ridiculous.
@Karawasa, Please...do me a favor as my friend and colleague...shut up...you really seem to go out of your way to pick on Vexal, IDC what kind of rivalry you two have, you two are acting half my age. Please, don't be fools, because we have to stick together in times like this.

Can someone point to an instance of Vexal being bashed because of his work? I seem to recall instances where his arguments were bashed, but not him. The only bashing he has personally received is for his behavior. That, is very much warranted.
I too agree that bashing someone for their work is silly. It is also silly to bash someone's work because of them. However, it is very much appropriate to bash the work because of the work and to bash the person because of the person.
I don't have any rivalry or grudge against Vexal. I have only bashed his map because I have played it; I have only bashed his arguments because they were flawed; I have only bashed him because of his behavior.
Again, just a post somewhere indicating otherwise would go a long way. Otherwise, I think business as usual is fine.
Why is this again? You put it in the public domain. Everyone has the right to judge. It's like saying that you can't comment on art when in a museum.
Being public domain is not a ticket to be impolite.
Really, I can't say I'm choosing sides because I haven't seen anyone act exactly respectable, but Vexals point is valid. Constructive criticism or even or even plain dislike for him and his work is fine, but if you don't have to be a prick about it. If you do, keep it to yourself.
Maybe you didn't think you were acting impolite, or you thought Vexal started it - but again, not choosing sides here.

Hm, I'm not sure. I like to think the modding community is like the Esports community - there's lots of annoying brats with big mouths on the web, but in reality you'll find that the people who actually matter are usually kind enough to make the community pleasant. Who cares about the two penis-measuring folks in GSL's stream chat claiming one's top diamond and will destroy the other if you can meet random people who like the game as well and treat you like family because of it.
That said, I know it can be annoying, but if you're really letting it get to you then they either need to have a point or you have self-esteem issues. In either situation, it's up to you to change something. If they really are assholes without anything to fall back on, then their opinions are hardly valid and the community as a whole will end up mostly ignoring them anyway.
Even the most loud mouths will eventually get a sore throat, and with nobody around to give them a pasty, all they'll be doing is digging their own grave.
I recall you agreeing with my arguments more often than not. You attempt to state I lack the right to make them because you feel I lack credentials. Exactly what you just stated you've never done.
There are objective ways to discuss a topic and there subjective ways. In almost every circumstance, objective discussion is far superior and more productive.
You consistently choose the subjective route.

@Vexal: Go
Now why would I put you down when I bet what you do is way more than I can fathom?
Umm... havent seen anybody insulting you or your work around here vexal....

I was referring to the Blizzard forums.
Then you should post that in the Blizzard forums.
I don't know for sure, but I don't think many mapsterers are avid battlenet posters.
This.

I have no idea who you are but after reading this bull cr*p, am wondering what kind of a twisted and unsecure sad little dude you are

I am finding it quite troublesome to recall instances of you ever contributing positively to a discussion.
It is becoming slightly out of hand.
Slightly.
