I have two favorite Mods but they are both have things that could exist together but don't. They are also locked to their creators map choice. I am planning a combination of the two mods. I also want my mod to be applicable to any map like a Dependency Pack if that makes any sense. For Example FrozenxWyvern has an awesome mod that includes all the HotS Units but not the Odin or Leviathan from SamIam's True Power Mod. I want to create a splinter that has all of that and some personal modifications of my own then apply them to a map neither modder uses like BigGameHunter. Any ideas? I have no problem giving credit where credit is due But I dream big, why not have their layered cake with my icing?
@Eiviyn: Go No need for that answer. He clearly stated that he will give credit where credit is due.
@Arbetrayer: Go If you have access to both mod files, what you need to do is decide what you want from each one, then think of the best way to merge them. Applying both as a dependency to your own mod is likely to bring incompatibilities. My suggestion is to pick one as dependency and move the desired data from the other.
"Giving credit" isn't a substitute for asking permission.
Agreed. But if he wants to have access to the mods and he wants to give credit he has to ask for it, so I don't think there's any intention to steal anything. You could have been a 'little more' careful and give him directions, saying he needs to ask the authors for it, but you just decided politeness wasn't necessary.

Then by all means explain to him how to hack into other people's mod files. I'll stick to my initial response.
@Arbetrayer: Go As you can see, there are ways to get the mods, but some of us consider it stealing. The reason is that if an author locks his mod it means he doesn't want anyone else using it. If you really want to use the mods in the right way you need to contact the authors, explain your intentions, and hope they decide to share the files with you.
@Eiviyn: Go That's my answer, I never said I was going to tell him how to get the files.
No I want to give credit where it is Due. I just want a good place to start from. If someone else already has the groundwork then then I shouldn't have to Reinvent the wheel as long as I Don't call the wheel my invention.
I have no intention on stealing anything. I have attempted contact with both the authors of these mods for permission on battle.net and at this forum with no word from FrozenxWyvern SamIAM told me his was just a mod off of someone else, I agree that he may be in the wrong for not quoting his source but what I am doing is something all together different. The culmination of the two plus my own work will be a new creation and mine for the using but for the parts from others I borrow will be properly Credited and used unless I have been told not to by the original modder. I have respect for my fellow modder and treat them as I wish to be treated. You may wanna take a similar approach before you Flame, otherwise all you end up with is ashes.

If you're talking about stealing other people's work; fuck you.
If you're not, just publish the mod as a mod on b.net, go to "Dependencies" -> "Add other" -> Battle.net tab then find your mod.

I don't think you understood his request.
He's talking about stealing someone else's mods to apply it to his own work. "Giving credit" isn't a substitute for asking permission.
