Hi. My Name is AJ aka Slimebuck aka Slimebucket and I am new around these forums.
I just recently thought of a great mini game for star craft 2 and decided to learn how to use the editor. I have much game editing and level creation experience on other games and I find Galaxy Editor awesome to work with.
I In fact like the fact of how in depth and complicated it is. I know out of everyone I know in real life I like things more challenging, faster, more complicated and talented. Everyone else I know its not like they are lazy, but they are stubborn to learning it seems, and this makes them not like anything that is complicated at all due to them not wanting to learn a new talent.
So I have an idea for a game I wanted to make, that was based on the original idea blizzard had for Starcraft.
Back when Blizzard first was making Starcraft 1 it originally had no land and was all aerial / space combat. I want to take this idea and make a mini game that would show off what starcraft 2 would be like if that was the direction they took Starcraft.
So Protoss would start with a Mothership Prime. This is a larger version of the mothership can also build other PRIME units, as well as make normal motherships and acts like a Nexus that can make interceptors that work and look like probes that collect minerals, that .
This mothership can make prime version of the Carriers, Phoenix, Void Ray, and Tempest, as well as a Warp Gate that will be for shield abilities, spells and auras. The Prime ships can spend minerals and gas to build a normal version of what ever it is. They also can purchase upgrades for that type of unit.
There will also be a Mothership Core called a Prime Upgrade Core, that will be used as an upgrade center for the PRIME units.
The Warp Prisms will be able to learn abilities such as hallucination, shields, Psi Storm. I am not sure if I want to have observers or make warp prisms able to learn detection yet...
I am going to start off by making the protoss race, then after they are made I will work on other races. So far I got The super sized Carrier Prime working properly, and working on it has got me very excited for what is possible with the editor!
I had a few problems that for the life of me I could not find any relevant information on google no matter how hard I searched. I solved the problems I had, but I thought I better make an account here in case I need to ask for help!
The problem I had before was I couldn't figure out how to change the starting number of interceptors on the carrier, and how something works when setting the limit of how many you can have. I saw some where it is something that is like Les than > 8, but in my editor on the carrier it was set at 9, and I was wondering why is it 9 there instead of 8... but I figured it was because anything less than 9 is 12345678, so that is why the carrier can only have 8 carriers... so if I set that value to lets say 23, does that mean the max is then 22?

Someone told me that sc2mapster is best site around for custom sc2 stuff, and that the community is a big reason why it is the best :)
My mod is comming together very nicely! I Have finished majority of the new units I need, Prime Mothership, Prime Carrier, Prime Void ray, Prime Tempest, Prime Warp Prism, Prime Oracle, Prime Phoenix, Prime Observer,
Now I have to work on the Prime Probe, the upgrades, the Prime Upgrade Core.
I am trying to figure out how I am going to do the minerals and gas in this game. I know I want to make probes flying. I think I am going to make Probe Primes construct Probes, but they unload the minerals to the mothership Prime, or Warp Prism Primes that have been turned into Phasing mode.
Gas is what I am trying to figure out. I'm not sure if I want to make normal gas nodes that are mined, or maybe make a type of craft that produces gas every so many seconds, and explode in a big explosion if killed, making them targets.
I might take gas out of it completely and leave just minerals. Not sure. I was also thinking of making the unit producing buildings create ships per time instead of resources, and make the PRIME ships the only ones that cost resources...
I think I will decide once I get the rest of the protoss team made though.

Right now the player starts with a mothership zX. This mothership has no abilities but acts like a nexus receiving minerals and gas, and can build a few Prime buildings such as Observer prime, Probe Prime, and a Prime upgrade Core.
From this mothership the user will make a Probe primes to make workers, Observer primes to make scouts.
The Mothership can then upgrade into a Mothership Core Prime. This upgrade mothership can produce phoenix Primes, Void Ray Primes, and when the user upgrades their Prime upgrade Core the Mothership Prime can also build Carrier and Tempest Primes.
The Prime Upgrade Core can also build units when Upgraded such as the Shield Prism Prime and the Oracle Prime.
Up next is to make all the abilities and upgrades!

I am all done making my flying worker force. I made Probe primes that can fly and can hold 6 normal workers.
(there will still be areas of land with minerals on them for the player to unload the probes onto the land)
Normal workers eventually can fly and get faster with the use of upgrades.
I am trying to make them look like interceptors, but when I do it seems to break the workers...
I think a mothership instead of a nexus look really good... really makes protoss seem more alien.

Be sure to check out the extension mod: Hots Custom Map support on NA and EU, Despite the name it greatly expands the roster of options for the default 3 races and is updated all the way to NCO.
Just finished dealing with the morphing of the units, adding in morph animations and sounds.
I made it so the user starts with a Mothership core, then upgrades it to a Mothership, then a Mothership core Prime, then into the big daddie MOTHERSHIP PRIME.
I have a problem where the price for the upgrade is displaying incorrect and I cannot figure out why... I'ma search for the answer, if not ima make another post for help
