    Hey, this is a thread for the progress of my mod, which I decided to call zX Combat.

    zX combat is a mod designed to remove all ground elements from the teams. When Blizzard first made the first alpha of Star Craft that actually was the direction they wanted to go, but then they made it more like Warcraft in order to make the game easier to work on, as they where fresh off making Warcraft. (or was it Warcraft 2?)

    Ideas and Concepts

    So I decided to work on Protoss side first. - I decided to make 2 types of units, normals, and Primes. - I decided to make Mothership Cores and Motherships act like Nexus accepting resources. - Player starts with a Mothership core which can only make Probe Primes, then with enough minerals can upgrade it to a Mothership. - There Can be multiple motherships, but they do not have all the abilities of normal SC2 Motherships. - The Mothership can Upgrade again with Minerals and gas to a Mothership core Prime. - Motherahip Core Primes can build normal Mothership Cores so that they can be used as expansions and collect minerals. - Mothership Core Primes can Upgrade into Mothership Primes, which is the flagship of the Golden Armada (Only 1, but bad ass)

    There is Warp Prism Primes which when in Warp Mode, can Create Military Prime units (Phoenixes, Void Rays, Carriers and tempests)

    There is also Sentry, Oracle and Observer Primes. -The sentry Prime Has upgrades for all the Prime ships, and normal sentries can use their shield ability. - The Oracle Prime Has abilities it can research and use. Such as cloak, or Psi Storm, or Hallucinate. - Observer Primes house other upgrades for the Prime units, and they can make observers which are used for scouting.

    Progress

    So far I am totally done making all the Protoss units. I have made all the morph animations, sounds and what not work to upgrade the mothership core to a mothership, then to a morthership Core prime, then again to a Mothership Prime

    I have made all the mothership's and cores build the correct Primes.

    I have made all th Prime Units, and have made them all able to spawn the correct units.

    Made Probes flying, trying to make them look like interceptors

    What needs to be done

    Right now the big things that need to be done are

    - Cancel buttons for upgrades are buggy and need to be looked at FIXED

    - Upgrades need to be implemented

    - Abilities for Sentry's and Orcales need to be implemented

    - Need to figure out how to deal with vespen gas... make a ship that produces it every few seconds, making targets for the enemy to kill, or make it like a floating rock you have to build a vespen gas collector on... I just don't want to have to use ground.. I was also thinking make destructible rocks drop gas and minerals when destroyed so it is like the player is mining asteroids...

    - Need to make requirements for Warp Prism Primes so players cannot rush to carriers and tempests, make it so Mothership Prime is needed

    I will be constantly using this thread to update status of my work on my mod. This is my first mod, so work is slow, but constant. I will not start another project until this one is done. For now this thread will be boring as heck, but soon I will get an alpha of my mod out and I will be looking for criticism and suggestions!

    some people are way to serious.

    Like some things people say, or type, are jokes. Not serious. People blame trolls for trolling, but it is actually the people that scream and yell at the trolls, that are the real trolls.

    Everyone has some sort of complex where they feel everything is aimed towards them. Hell I even see people screaming at me, because I some how offended them when nothing I even said had anything to do with them.

    Like I will admit I am anti Semitic. I hate Jews. I think they are the reason the world is in such hardship because they killed Jesus. but that is personal taste, and opinion. Not fact. But if anyone over hears me say this, they get all mad at me, saying i'm a hater, and a racist (Jews are not a race btw) and they will HATE me as if I cursed out their mothers. They get personally upset over the fact that my opinion is that I do not like jews... even when THEY ARE NOT JEWS themselves. So what? Even if I was racist, which I am not, why should that bother anyone if I don't seek out and harm people?

    It is not like I go around telling everyone my opinions like that, but if someone else is saying BS I don't agree with, or dissing something I value, I will say my opinions.

    Like if someone does not like black people, what ever. THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TO THAT OPINION. They how ever do not have the right to push that opinion onto others, or to bug black people. Yet, if someone says "I don't like black people, but I wouldn't ever go out of my way to tell them that or to bother them" they are still hated the same as a racist who actually would hurt black people.

    Like look at the comedian that played COSMO Kramer on Seinfeld. For 1 mistake, saying some words, not actually causing huge grief (the guy could have left, he wasn't forced to stay, and again, they where just words.. if you cant handle some words back after heckling, then your a baby) he lost his career, respect, and basically can never work in show biz again.. did he hurt anyone? No. Sure he made a fool of himself, but what ever!

    I just feel people need to lighten up. Instead of jumping to the "OMFG your an idiot tool, such a loser man" instantly think it over and think "am I being to f'ing serious here??"

    TL DR:

    WHY SO SERIOUS!?!?!?!?!?!?

    Dude, I took the time to try and help you and give advice.

    If you do not want to take it, what ever, but there is no reason to tell me "If you are not going to reply a relevant post it might not be best to post at all"

    You are asking for help and you are going to treat people like that? So me taking my time, and trying to give advice on how to go about starting a project and getting used with the editor, and trying to explain that if you had a small project under your belt it would be MUCH easier to get people interested in helping you as they can see you actually are and can do something instead of all ideas and no show is not relevant to this thread, then I do not know what is.

    The way you said that it seems like you feel I wasted my time posting in your thread. Again, I don't care if you don't take the advice, but don't shit on me for trying to help

    Take this advice.

    - Make a very small project, and work on that first to learn the editor, what it can do, what it is capable of. Ideas are all good an all, but without experience with the editor it is extremely hard to get in depth conversation with you about they systems, and the fine details of the project.

    - Great first project is just a normal map with custom units. Try making a normal map and add / change a bunch of units.

    - Make a text document to go with your project. This editor has a lot of variables and it is nice to have a document you write all your stats, ideas and what not into that you can have open on the side while you work.

    - Worry about terrain editing last. Figure out the system, triggers, and everything about the gameplay before making the lay outs for the levels.

    - When making a project, try to get the whole project written into a document and planned out first. If you create a project and just do everything on a whim it is very easy to forget and miss stuff, or the project turns out different than what you had envisioned. This is the same with all level design. Never just go at it, always have a plan and a concept first.

    Just finished dealing with the morphing of the units, adding in morph animations and sounds.

    I made it so the user starts with a Mothership core, then upgrades it to a Mothership, then a Mothership core Prime, then into the big daddie MOTHERSHIP PRIME.

    I have a problem where the price for the upgrade is displaying incorrect and I cannot figure out why... I'ma search for the answer, if not ima make another post for help

    make a game that is like a mortal kombat style fighting game and call it DOMESTIC VIOLENCE! and have it be like the wife vs the husband, or the parents vs the kids, or neighbor vs neighbor... have the enemies get worse and worse.. like first you are fighting immediate family, the other family members, then lawyers and attorneys, then police and then judges, then people in jail.

    SO i have been working hard on my mod, creating units and learning the editor.

    Right now I am almsot done the Protss side (version 1) after I get it built I will tweak and tweak and tweak it until I get the game play at a nice pace.

    Right now I this is what I got made - Mothership Prime - Mothership Core Prime - Mothership zX - Carrier Prime - Tempest Prime - Void Ray Prime - Oracle Prime - Observer Prime - Warp Prism Prime (now called Shield Prism Prime) - don't have all abilities and powers done - Probe Prime

    Right now the player starts with a mothership zX. This mothership has no abilities but acts like a nexus receiving minerals and gas, and can build a few Prime buildings such as Observer prime, Probe Prime, and a Prime upgrade Core.

    From this mothership the user will make a Probe primes to make workers, Observer primes to make scouts.

    The Mothership can then upgrade into a Mothership Core Prime. This upgrade mothership can produce phoenix Primes, Void Ray Primes, and when the user upgrades their Prime upgrade Core the Mothership Prime can also build Carrier and Tempest Primes.

    The Prime Upgrade Core can also build units when Upgraded such as the Shield Prism Prime and the Oracle Prime.

    Up next is to make all the abilities and upgrades!

    I am all done making my flying worker force. I made Probe primes that can fly and can hold 6 normal workers. (there will still be areas of land with minerals on them for the player to unload the probes onto the land)

    Normal workers eventually can fly and get faster with the use of upgrades.

    I am trying to make them look like interceptors, but when I do it seems to break the workers...

    I think a mothership instead of a nexus look really good... really makes protoss seem more alien.

    I am in the same boat as you, always played around with the editor, but never actually finished anything.

    I am working on my first project called zX Alpha which is ment to recreate the type of game Blizzard had when they first made the alpha version of the game.

    With every unit flying, minerals on asteroids, ect ect

    Going to make a 1v1 with JUST protoss first, then expand and make the other races, then make 2v2, 4v4 and a 4 v Ai

    It will be an extremely small game, but it requires making many custom units, building the level, and learning alll the in's and outs of really working on a project from start to completion

    I posted on the official SC2 forums and like no one talks over there (other than trolling)

    Someone told me that sc2mapster is best site around for custom sc2 stuff, and that the community is a big reason why it is the best :)

    My mod is comming together very nicely! I Have finished majority of the new units I need, Prime Mothership, Prime Carrier, Prime Void ray, Prime Tempest, Prime Warp Prism, Prime Oracle, Prime Phoenix, Prime Observer,

    Now I have to work on the Prime Probe, the upgrades, the Prime Upgrade Core.

    I am trying to figure out how I am going to do the minerals and gas in this game. I know I want to make probes flying. I think I am going to make Probe Primes construct Probes, but they unload the minerals to the mothership Prime, or Warp Prism Primes that have been turned into Phasing mode.

    Gas is what I am trying to figure out. I'm not sure if I want to make normal gas nodes that are mined, or maybe make a type of craft that produces gas every so many seconds, and explode in a big explosion if killed, making them targets.

    I might take gas out of it completely and leave just minerals. Not sure. I was also thinking of making the unit producing buildings create ships per time instead of resources, and make the PRIME ships the only ones that cost resources...

    I think I will decide once I get the rest of the protoss team made though.

    Hi. My Name is AJ aka Slimebuck aka Slimebucket and I am new around these forums.

    I just recently thought of a great mini game for star craft 2 and decided to learn how to use the editor. I have much game editing and level creation experience on other games and I find Galaxy Editor awesome to work with.

    I In fact like the fact of how in depth and complicated it is. I know out of everyone I know in real life I like things more challenging, faster, more complicated and talented. Everyone else I know its not like they are lazy, but they are stubborn to learning it seems, and this makes them not like anything that is complicated at all due to them not wanting to learn a new talent.

    So I have an idea for a game I wanted to make, that was based on the original idea blizzard had for Starcraft.

    Back when Blizzard first was making Starcraft 1 it originally had no land and was all aerial / space combat. I want to take this idea and make a mini game that would show off what starcraft 2 would be like if that was the direction they took Starcraft.

    So Protoss would start with a Mothership Prime. This is a larger version of the mothership can also build other PRIME units, as well as make normal motherships and acts like a Nexus that can make interceptors that work and look like probes that collect minerals, that .

    This mothership can make prime version of the Carriers, Phoenix, Void Ray, and Tempest, as well as a Warp Gate that will be for shield abilities, spells and auras. The Prime ships can spend minerals and gas to build a normal version of what ever it is. They also can purchase upgrades for that type of unit.

    There will also be a Mothership Core called a Prime Upgrade Core, that will be used as an upgrade center for the PRIME units.

    The Warp Prisms will be able to learn abilities such as hallucination, shields, Psi Storm. I am not sure if I want to have observers or make warp prisms able to learn detection yet...

    I am going to start off by making the protoss race, then after they are made I will work on other races. So far I got The super sized Carrier Prime working properly, and working on it has got me very excited for what is possible with the editor!

    I had a few problems that for the life of me I could not find any relevant information on google no matter how hard I searched. I solved the problems I had, but I thought I better make an account here in case I need to ask for help!

    The problem I had before was I couldn't figure out how to change the starting number of interceptors on the carrier, and how something works when setting the limit of how many you can have. I saw some where it is something that is like Les than > 8, but in my editor on the carrier it was set at 9, and I was wondering why is it 9 there instead of 8... but I figured it was because anything less than 9 is 12345678, so that is why the carrier can only have 8 carriers... so if I set that value to lets say 23, does that mean the max is then 22?
