HEy yall, just signed up to SC@Mapsters and hope to A) learn more about the editor and B) Maybe output a few maps.
In the past i've played around with World edit from WCIII and made some fun maps for myself (even created a random map generator), and now moving onto the galaxy editor i've noticed that its similar, yet completely different.
I've tried to fiddle around with it (Hoping to make a game called Ultimate war, which will have more realistic combat {all units will have an aiming calc that will take into account objects, terrain height, units infront, anything really that would affect real combat. I was also planning to create some sort of unit health/armour where different parts of the units body would have a different type of health, so when it reaches 0 the unit would collapse or die or have some sort of effect})
There is alot that i was planning to do with this game. However the main problem is i'm struggling to under stand the complexity of the galaxy editor and not only that but it appears to me to be somewhat incomplete. If this is so i will probably decide to hold off on Ultimate war until the release and try again on putting it together, but in the mean time i do plan on making a random map generator and hopefully it'll be ready before the beta {since i was able to put it together in WCIII then i'm sure i can put it together in SCII.
So right now my first goal is to create it so that it is playable in melee without ai. Wish me good luck!! =X
Welcome to SC2Mapster, and good luck on your map. If you need any help, you can always post in our Map Dev Forum, or head over to the Tutorials forum to see if someone's already answered your question, :).
And yah i have actualy been researching tutorials and have learned quite a bit, and i have made quite alot of progress on my map thanks to all the posted information!
I hope to release my map soon (maybe a week or two, most of my work right now is from memory from WCIII but i'm planning to make the map set up more use friendly by adding a GUI at start so i'll have to learn that =/ )
