in all seriousness, i'm just surprised that the mods, the people who pushed for mafia and all of the changes we were making, are not responding. neither is rodrigo...

honest to God if i was in charge of this project, i woulda made the polls, stood by em, and said fuck you to anyone who tried to stop me...

i did support mafia, but i wouldn't have if i was in rodrigo's situation. i woulda just launched this thing as soon as possible

Has anyone even contacted sixen about it? Is it ok by him to be put in the vote? Also has anyone started making advertisements we can spam on other forums and facebook pages and other game websites? I know we decided on battleplanets for motw.

As a community we're all in charge which is what's causing problems. Nobody is taking lead and expecting rodrigo to be the head honcho commanding us all. We're just bickering back and forth. Someone needs to take charge and get this project started.

There were three polls in favour of Battle Planets, after that several people wanted to take Mafia instead. Also, nobody changes the poll to EU publisher and everybody is waiting for advertisements that nobody is making.

but that's not what this forum is about. we have a EU poll, we had a NA poll, we're confused on the first map so what we're doing is this

the ONLY map that has to have ridiculous popularity is the first, so the second and third maps should roll completely on votes. i say we either make a poll for map 2, or make a poll to organize our plan for advertising preparations

thnks... with rodrigo's consent, i'll take charge. no i'm not going to ask him, i'm just gonna do my part of our job. it IS a community project.

while we decide on week one and on advertising, let's CHANGE THE POLL TO THE MAP FOR WEEK 2, AND THEN 3.

as for advertising, let's start on recruiting someone to make a promotional video... perhaps we could take in-game videos from several willing authors who have their maps submitted, and then we could edit them together into a MOTW video.

i'd personally be willing to edit the video, but i cannot request videos from every author, decide the authors, and decide the messages in the video. That's your job.

what i want regarding the video is this: everyone ask any author you know who has a submitted map that you might think is worth throwing into the vid (myself included) if they'll submit a link for their chosen vid... we'll add the links together in an announcement so whoever decides to edit the video can download them all and piece em together with some customized MOTW advertising. also give me your ideas AND DO NOT ARGUE) about what you think the messages included in the vid should be. i'll probably include the motw video, several clips of parties playing the submitted maps, and a buncha epic text that explains the project

you should also mention songs you might want for the video (assuming it's not an audio commentary)

AFTERWARDS:

Mods: Make poll for week 3, and make an announcement with all the links

Everyone: take the links and make your own motw vid to submit for the poll

AFTER THAT:

Mods: make a poll to decide on the winning vid

Everyone: vote for the vid

i will be submitting a silent clip with ingame map footage for my map (it's silent so you can attach any song to it, or lay an audio commentary over it) please make silent, textless vids of ur maps if you are an author with a map submitted to this project. tell authors who you pm to do the same

first of all, here's (and by here i mean on the page that i linked) a link for a silent, editable vid of my map. feel free to use a youtube downloader to get the vid and use it in your motw video. we'll need more vids from more authors, however. please work on that

another important announcement is that zelda and I have followed through with his plan. he made a second thread that will be used to host a second poll (that way we can say "vote for next week's map here" and "vote for the week after next week's map here")

once the poll for week #2 is set up, we'll make a poll for week #3 on the second page. THAT PAGE WILL ALSO CONTAIN ALL OF THE VIDEO LINKS THAT YOU SUBMIT ON THIS THREAD. i'll start by adding a link for the page, and adding the link for my vid into it.

damn right... what do you think of our plans so far though? we need to keep this rolling forward (it can't take 2 weeks just to start on the advertisement videos)

i took her advice and i'm working on the vid, but i can only submit one vid myself, and i can only edit the links people are generous enough to give into ONE motw promotional video...

i'm not the best video editor, and i'm counting on other people to contend

basically, it shouldn't have you talking about the features of your map (although video editors can remove the audio themselves if needed, so it's not a big issue). The REAL issue is having big text banners flying across the screen saying "NOW WITH 8 PLAYERS AND VEHICLES!!!"... there's no way to edit that out unless you're the person who put it in, and you have the original file that doesn't have the giant text.

giant flying text is a problem because it usually talks about a specific map, and these clips will just be used to be showing off the project and its diversity.

also... giant flying text has been known to light computers on fire and break windows
