All of those, except for "To license", seem to deal with (or have the possibility to deal with) money (Sell, rent, etc. Not sure what the exact defintion of to "license" is, so I can't tell whether money can be involved in that one), so I think you actually are free to "give away" models to the community as long as there are no strings attached.
And, also somewhat important, who says they will actually enforce those rules? A lot of this is just them covering their assess in case something bad happens. Having power and using power are two different things.
Yeah, it kinda sucks that they own everything, but I honestly didn't expect any different and don't think it will directly affect anyone who isn't trying to get rich by making sc2 models (Not like it's actually possible...)
For some reason I cannot run max 2011 on my main computer. I need to use my old laptop and haven't found a fix around that. My old laptop can't run Sc2.
Get it now? I have to model in another laptop CAN NOT preview in it and if I can to simply test a little detail I have to transfer that model to the computer that CAN run sc2 and this simpley sucks.
I DO have one very last hope which I'll try to do later afternoon which is install winxp sp3 in a partition and see if I can run max 2011 + sc2 in there (in my main computer) and give that partition like 50gbs just for developping for sc :P
Log in to the game first, if there is a problem with region connect just press OK and try to log in. When you're in main menu just quit the game and you should be able to log into HoTS editor.
I could recommend either having dropbox/google drive on both for painless sync, or install VirtualBox/VMWare Player and make a winxp virtual machine.
EDIT: In fact, you could save your map as an sc2components folder located within dropbox, and then just make all your model changes there, and in your main just keep reloading sc2 with said components folder map.
I am trying virtual machines atm but they don't quite seem to like to see that I have a graphics card. SC2 just says my graphics device is unaavailable and doesn't run. I have however confirmed that I can run 3ds max in win xp.
So any ideas on how to let the virtual machine know I have a graphics card? Using VMware atm. Could try Virtualbox I guess
Edit:
If there's no solution to this I suppose I can install dropbox, model in the virtual machine, save to drop box, dropbox syncs with host computer and host computer runs SC.
That'd not be ideal but completely possible. Not ideal because I'd lose the fast previewing features.
Why do they still delay the release of these tools? I guess I will just go for temporarily converting few of my models awaiting conversion and then reimport them again with art tools and now just with whatever exporters exist there.

To fix the scale on existing models:
Utilities Panel > More... > Rescale World Units > Rescale
Use "100"

They're not out of beta yet. But you could try to write to Blizzard http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/forum/topic/7811253009?page=3 that you'd like to participate maybe
Well I'll be looking forward to this when it comes out. Until then i'll be using the old tools :)

That's actually a good question. I don't know, maybe they didn't gather enough feedback?
