Hey everyone, so personally, I want to keep this site alive as do a lot more of you guys! So anyways, a topic that I'm discussing rn is the complain about spam. First off Curse wants to take down this site, so the spam was let loose. I think that we shud at least make a stand I mean seriously, this site has so much history and I don't think a lot of you guys want to just throw that away! So maybe if we band together and prove that we are an active community, then perhaps curse would reconsider their decision and maybe just maybe this spam will leave? JUST A THEORY

I pretty much hate Blizzard for their mindset of stealing an intellectual property, But I stand for the Forum Administrators and its Members for the well-being of future developers, I stand for you' I agree upon your statement. :)

I doubt this site can even die a quick death at least 3 yrs and it be dead.

Y'all need to read up on Hanlon's Razor and stop posting conspiracy threads.

While I agree with the general sentiment of having an active community, it's not clear to me why we keep getting these threads about the site. It's here to host maps, assets, etc and that has not really changed; traffic here seems to have stayed the same since I started frequenting and I'm unsure why there is a sudden scare that it would be shut down. If people stop coming I suspect it's them losing interest in the game itself, not being unhappy with some spam links on Mapster.

It seems pretty plain that the mods are just normal people like everyone else here and they're doing the best they can... they have to manually remove spam every day! It's incredibly absurd to think they're purposefully doing anything to hinder the site if you simply ask yourself 'Why would they?'. And frankly, if the site doesn't get enough traffic then it won't get upgraded in a timely manner by Curse. How many times does it need to be said that THE SPAM CAN ONLY BE REMOVED MANUALLY IT IS NOT THE MODS' FAULT. I'm not being zealously defensive of some group of mods I don't know, it's just grating to see so many people lose their shit because they don't use common sense and claim the mods don't care.

The crux of the problem is that a lot of resources we have here cannot be moved as they are technically owned by Curse (someone correct me here if this is wrong). Maybe one day we'll get an improved site from Curse, maybe we won't, but until someone has a better idea about transferring everything that exists here to a better non-Curse site without breaking Curse ToS, then these 'Curse pooped the bed', etc threads are just as bad as the spam - worse even because it just propagates a bunch of negativity similar to the ole 'ded gaem' meme.

Now of course, the intentions of Danze for posting this were good - he wants us to be an active community, which is something I agree we can all get behind - but then these clowns come in and leave flippantly stupid remarks. I think we need to stop bothering when it comes to discussing the spam... it's here and being handled in the only way (unfortunately) it can be.
