Just check their new site http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/
Arcade link is broken http://battle.net/arcade
Seriously, when i first time visited site, i checked all links. Took me 1 minute. It's broken about 3-5 days already. Company with 4k employees can't fix this... really...
And the new arcade interface has not brought any improvements on promoting new maps...gg
ofc we do mistakes, ofc a patch contains bugs, that's why we test it before we go live. the lotv beta would have been perfect for this. i really don't understand this decision.

I don't think that Blizzard have to actualy pay attention to mods. The whole Arcade site is kind of volunteer work, so cannot be judged. The Arcade site is like whatever.
The real problem is their inconsistent tools, which constantly breaks data and annoys the shit out of me. Look at WC3 editor. It was realy a rock-solid tool that was hard to break, it was reliable and it didn't change with each new patch. The sc2 editor, while having much superior functionality is a pain in the ass. As my shit broke when patch 1.5 comes out, so it is with 3.0.
I'm tired to patch the holes with some stupid workarounds instead of having the only way to PROPERLY doing things. I fucking hate the word "workaround". You do things right or it's fucking garbage. Where is that legendary "Blizzard Quality"? Why some assets got screwed in the new patches? Hell, guys from Blizzard. Polish the editor for yourself, not for me, so it will be pleasure to use. Some solid software piece like Adobe products or at least your own WC3 editor..
Concerning arcade website.. yeah. Chinese map section in my knowledgeless vision of things feels like a such superior setup, and I believe they've had it even before the whole arcade deal.
As for ingame arcade improvements - Idk. I've spent entire night playing barcraft again, so it does feel better than before. I could say I'm happier by playing the one holy map than mapping :D
Especially now with all the broken prefixes, broken object explorer for weapons and god knows what else (just played my map - an attack wave of 250 units used to be fine, now it completely wrecks my PC, gee).
And does anyone know what's up with "Loading Screen/Tip" (old custom loading tips don't display anymore, even if you reset the field in game UI data after Tyas localization fix).
I think that any sort of negative level of "care" that Blizzard has for the Arcade (If such "negative care" even exists) will be revealed based on how they handle the contest deadline, which can be summed up via the following scenarios
1. They do not fix issues in time that broke arcade games and do not extend the contest deadline to post BlizzCon in order to compensate and maintain the integrity of the contest.
or (most probable)
2. They either fix the issues in a timely manner and/or extend the contest deadline to compensate.
If scenario 1 is what plays out (and I really hope it does not) then I personally translate that to them not valuing those who worked hard on their contest games/entries to only have them broken because of bad timing of the contest deadline and the patch.
The reason I think this will say it all is because, issues aside, Patch 3.0 is amazing and adds a lot of new features, plus the new arcade setup is infact making new/older underplayed games easier to get going.
That said, the contest is where you will find any sort of potential "not caring" because if they truly believe in the arcade, they must also believe in the contest and since the goal of the contest is to reward the best games.... how can you do that if right before the deadline a patch that was deployed broke some of them? At that point it is not about the best game, it is about who lucked out and did not have their map destroyed.
EDIT: Just to clarify so I do not end up being grouped with Blizzard haters, I personally think that Blizzard will rectify this in a way that maintains the integrity of the contest, so I am not saying that they do not "care" about the Arcade, I think they do (Patch 3.0 is a huge improvement for the Editor and Arcade imo) and they will do what needs to be done etc.

Ahh the joys of not understanding group dynamics or how any company works. Guess what. No, just because they have 4k people doesn't mean everything will be checked, everything will be fixed, and everything will work.
Let me ask a simple question. Would you have preferred these changes now, and get to use the new tools and capabilities OR wait another X months for them?
I can work around stuff being not as awesome or functional as I would expect. I can not work around having nothing at all.
And if you think these bugs are bad... oh boy... at least you can still play a game and click on things *Cough*DotA 2*Cough*

I work for a large company. A group dynamic of sorts. Thousands of employees across the country. We have 3 mechanics in our state, and we have a lot of machinery. When something breaks, I call my boss and say, "Hey, this is broken." I go on doing my job, because I am not the mechanic. He then calls the regional manager to say, "Hey, this is broken, we need a mechanic." That boss calls a company mechanic, who is likely somewhere, doing something. Says, "Hey, we need this fixed." and within a couple of days, that mechanic manages to drive to our location, inspect the problem, find a parts dealer to get the part, and fix the problem.
So, there is like a 6 stage process for getting this machine fixed, and it includes a lot of time devoted to physically moving from A to B. The problem is usually transmitted through to the mechanic within an hour.
This is how a company, using a group dynamic, manages to solve a problem in a timely manner.

how about testing them on a ptr? is that really asked too much? that would have identified major bugs right away.

And this would indeed work, and the correct process.
Now imagine, you have 30 mechanics, and 10000x the machinery. Keep it all working. And no, this is not hyperbole, not when it comes to software. Each function is its own machine. And in the case of Blizzard, they maintain both the machines and the machines that make the machines.
Software is hard. No one has found a provable/effective way to truly test it. Not in any sane time frame or with a sane budget/cost ie, you CAN test everything, and make it all work reliably. It will not change, it will not be updated, and it will cost 5-6 figures per copy of software, and take 5+ years to develop. Case in point, any and all medical software that controls equipment. They are not even allowed to alter the OS, let alone the software itself, without re certifying it.
Now, should they have done a PTR? I would argue, this IS the PTR, and they are switching into the more accepted rolling release setup, where stuff is patched way more regularly, with more expected issues, and more feedback. Probably going to be a difficult transition. Many parts of the editor seem to be WIP.

And you are gonna stand by that? You think it is good that without any warning, many map makers lost the entire project? The vast majority of us were set back weeks.
They have a working PTR system, then even have a PTR up. There is no excuse to not test it beforehand. "This IS the PTR" is the dumbest comment to come out of this entire thing. No, the PTR is the PTR. You have dozens of modders begging you to put in on the PTR so they can find problems in it (As you have previously done, and has previously worked for you). I dont think anyone is in support of a "rolling out untested updates to periodically destroy what you have spent thousands of hours on." Want to kill the arcade? kill every project on a regular basis.
Lol Glorn makes it sound like there's someone at blizzard going "And now I shall destroy the arcade by deleting everyone's work MWA HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Personally I've always had my stuff save to dropbox. I'm not sure why people wouldn't use some form of online backup. All I lost was my download of the perfect soldiers campaign.

Lol, I dont intended it that way, but more of a "blind neglect" kid of way. Like the guy who backs over his dog in the driveway. there is a long list of things you could have done to avoid the situation; now your children are heartbroken.

In all fairness the latest changes were aimed for LotV's release. If it still isn't ready by then, well...

Took them a year to fix incorrect display of "1" resource bounty, and they only fixed it by switching styles
:D
which now throws a dialog is too small warning
