Much like the game Starcraft 2 its but a shadow of its once former glory.
Mozared is one dedicated mod by the looks of it. Mod of the year award, for sure.
I see some new faces. Some old faces..
In a way I feel I let Sc2mapster down. Despite life stuff and all that, the motivation and drive I had for this place I lost. Something I did not think possible.
Though in retrospect, Blizzard's disinterest through-out the mid-life of HoTS signaled the death knell for this game. As well as the cumbersome editor features that always came later than we wanted. Wings of liberty was great. As a game, and as a mapping experience. We should be at a peak now with LoTV having been released not too long ago, and growing from strength to strength(Like the Frozen throne era) but alas its the complete opposite.

Not a whole lot that can be done for a genre that no one plays to begin with.
There aren't many strategy games though. Atleast not many good ones which were what had catapulted RTS back in the day.
The Moba and MMORPG genre have many games of which only a few succeed(enormously) because they are done right. Thats what we dont have. Solid RTS games done right. More people are playing Age of Empires 2 on steam, than they are Starcraft 2. I could be wrong about that, but looking at the concurrent player numbers...seems to be the case.
This game is just ridiculously fast paced to be enjoyable. Korean simulator 2.0. Blizzard seeking to make the greatest esport ended up killing the majority of the casual player base. Now there is no population. Very smart indeed. But there's not much point devolving this into discussing all the flaws of the game/engine, its been done too much in the past already.
How is the question. Its like inviting everyone to your birthday party, but no one shows up, and you are left alone trying to make it great. Difficult indeed.
If you were here during the early days you'd feel my sadness and disappointment. This place was glorious. I still partially blame that ugly orange website overlay they added for alteast turning away some people I THINK. It looks so ugly and un-UI friendly.

Interesting... the fast pace was why i originally got involved with starcraft. Because Dawn of War Soulstorm (support) an Dawn of War II (concept) were a let down to me. I loved dawn of war dark crusade for its fast pacing, 3 minutes into the you could allready fight all over the map if you wanted to... good ol' days.
And slower paced strategy games like supreme commander (though it has an awesome revival in the community organized forged alliance for ever project (servers, patching and so on)) or sins of a solar empire have their own problems in multiplayer exactly because of their slow pace. I used to think games like sc2 and dow1 were great rts's for multiplayer because of their fast pace :/.
You are not wrong though, I tried to pick up laddering like three times in total for sc2 and stopped enjoying it enough in the end. It was essentially the point were I realized I wouldn't be happy with staying in plat but wouldn't be happy with putting more effort in for learning multitasking and macro management better.

I loved Dark Crusade. You get fast games that focus on mico and action(Dark crusade, frozen throne, CnC etc) and then you get fast games that focus on base building and economy (starcraft 1, starcraft 2) but starcraft 1 had a better balance I believe. Ive heard good things about grey goo but have not tried it yet.

No one plays RTS games anymore. They all play glorified AoS, "MOBA"s, if they want anything vaguely RTS based. As such the number of players and potential developers to begin with is much smaller than was with WC3.
A lot of the sort of people who did develop for WC3 also grew up and moved on to bigger/separate projects. I know of at least 3 which are/have made stand alone games using engines like Unity.
Finally a lot of people who do like what StarCraft II offers have failed to make the move. This is mostly due to the comparatively huge system requirements of SC2 compared with WC3. This applies to most of the current WC3 players who live in developing countries so only can afford computationally weak or very out dated hardware.
That said the overall engine has been a great success for Blizzard. It runs Heroes of the Storm, a powerhouse in the MOBA industry. Although not the biggest MOBA in the industry, it did manage to steal a huge market share from DotA2 and LoL and it seems to be gaining ground in the Esport scene as its roaster increases.
Indeed, it's not 2010 anymore. Because people got upset with "retarded" - the internets consensus is to use "autistic" instead. Get on with the times, man!

Should Old Acquaintance be forgot,
and never thought upon;
The flames of Love extinguished,
and fully past and gone:
Is thy sweet Heart now grown so cold,
that loving Breast of thine;
That thou canst never once reflect
On old long syne.
I'm more saddened to not have seen any progress by maity and zelda on starmon
Still alive and kicking, just busy.
My guide to the trigger editor (still a work in progress)
Nice of you to swing by to be a sad sack XD

Yes. I never did release the project I worked so long on either(with many other good people). Lessons learnt I suppose, at the very least.

out of curiosity, have there been notable attempts of pushing sc2 ladder out of its throne with an arcade map?

True true, 1/3 the boys I know either play MobA or CoD.
The other 1/3 snapping picture of their food and tweet about everything.
And there is me, who loves Dark Souls and Starcraft II but also enjoy a nice walk at the beach.
A very rare combination indeed, soo I had it going for me which is nice.

Please stop using the word "retarded."
Not with David Kim, he totally deserves it, six years of godawfull game design, 50% of sc2 death it's his fault, he must fuck off immediately
