I notice that all the cursor files that blizzard uses are exactly 4.21 kb. Maybe my cursor has to be exactly that size? But I don't know how to make a file that size... photoshop just saves it with any size. Or maybe its a specific type of DSS format, not just any DSS format. Any insight?
I think they need to be a size like 32x32, 64x64 etc. for it not to crash. Even then though it always screws up the image when I do it, but maybe you will have better luck with it.
In photoshop with the DDS plugin, i checked the generate mip maps as a save option. I imported and and I tried it and it still crashed. And to answer the other post, all the cursors blizzard uses are 32x32, and the cursor that I made is also 32x32 so this is not the problem.
It probably requires them to play at least one game to load it into memory ... the same as loading screen status bars ... if they play it TWICE in a row they will get the cursor, otherwise, the next game they play regardless of what it is will have the cursor ...
Don't know just guessing, probably right though ...
My imported cursors keep crashing the game.

Try saving both with and without mip-maps. That might be the issue.

wow... TGA worked, thanks.
Welcome :D
it seems that... players online do not get the custom cursor, but I do, even when online... weird

try preloading the image using the preload trigger functionality
I also have issues with the dds but with tga at first too. Apparently it wouldn't accept anything convert to tga from jpeg or gif. Png worked great.
Can anyone confirm that is has to be 32x32 as its too small for my tastes (64 is perfect).
