its not the normal melee tech, it is Story Mode Tech - (Marine) Combat Shield
if it should always be visible without upgrades, you just have to remove the shield hide in the warpig actor

So I am creating a unit called the Juggernaut. He is based on merc marine war pig and he must have a shield cuz hes the JUGGERNAUT :P
Anyways how do I add a restricted ability?
Things i've done:
1.add dependencies
2.fart around aimlessly in data editor looking to uncheck one stupid box somewhere so I can use combat shield
3.tried this trigger: tech tree; add 1 combat shield; player 1
