I am working on a system that allows users to use the "button pressed" function in the trigger editor in online maps with significantly reduced lag. I am almost there but for my map there is one problem.
The basis of this system is that when a player presses a key (such as w to move forward) their unit will have a button on the command card (one with the hockey w) when the player presses W the ability fires and in turn a trigger with a "unit uses ability event" fires immediately afterwards this cuts out the initial delay of the "button pressed" movement, I also have the regular way of moving in the map too (to ensure that the unit keeps moving after the ability fires) with the triggers that set integer values to 1 or 0 to indicate when each key is being held down and when they are not.
So the system would work great for me but I have one major problem. The basis of the system is allowing the player to use hot keys on hue command card to eliminate the initial delay, but in my Map I need to hide the game UI. So I am wondering is there a way to make hot keys and commands go to a unit when the game UI is hidden???
Someone at blizzcon did ask if they would allow it to be possible to use hotkeys when the ui is hidden and the answer was something like .. good idea.. but some will be reserved such as esc so u can always exit the game.

Well that is inconvenient now isn't it? why don't they just make their "Key and Mouse button pressed Events" not super laggy to begin with? Is it really that hard blizzard? you have made this amazing game yet you can not eliminate a 2 second delay between me pressing a key and the game registering it XD
Don't underestimate these things. Even BECAUSE it's such a great and amazing game it's even harder for them to work on it. Since it's so complex on the inside, changing netcode (or anything else) is extremely difficult. They can't "just" quickly change one or two numbers and eliminate delay o0
Not really. Actually, When you REALLY think about it. Its probably the worst Blizzard game to date. I could list so many points but wont. If Warcraft 3 was released today with B.net 2/leagues/ladders, Better graphics, etc etc. It would own Starcraft 2.
Don't judge like that. Just compare the pro scene (competitive) of wc3 and sc2, which is better ? Or just with custom map scene, which editor is more powerful ?
Just because it does not lives up to your expectation that it is the worst game. Blizzard game has always been epic no matter what. The only thing they screw up this time is Bnet 2.0.
In terms of complexity it's second place I would say.
WoW is, just because of it's giant proportions, on first place.
Whether you like the game or see it as a disappointment doesn't really have much to say in this matter.
It's just that you can't simply go in there, change a couple of things and expect the game to suddenly do handstands.
Often times people underestimate how hard it is to make such a game, and to keep it running.
Probably because we're using the map editor. So we can "programm our own game" with relative ease. And thus we expect Blizzard to program it with ease too. But this isn't the case.

no its not possible and some1 else already made a system like this i think...
