I've managed to escape from Nebuli's dark cellar and I'm back to uploading a new, more regular WTE. Hoozay! This week's theme shall be "Moving Island". What does this mean? Exactly what it says - I want you guys to terrain some sort of moving island kind of terrain. Whether you do it with only doodads or through clever use of hiding terrain cells is up to you. You can make a large amphibian animal like so, or perhaps take a more steampunk approach: as long as it looks like it can move.
Heyyyy! I don't know what happend, I got inspired. Not too much to make something over my head, and not not enough to just give up. So here is my protoss-ish-island-ship. It's not super detailled, but still interesting. Hope you like.
That looks pretty nice, but I'm missing a clear 'head', or really a 'bow' of the island. Perhaps you could 'streamline' it a bit and maybe do something with the front end?
I'll have to agree with Mozared that the shape of your shoreline doesn't look particularly aquadynamic. But it still looks really nice - and the interior too.
I particularly like the big curving control console - simple, but it just works perfectly. Though I notice that all of the large Zerus trees are facing and leaning the exact same direction.
I like the concept, but it would perhaps be better if the whole thing was mechanical and there were actual 'engines' or such on the platform, no? Now it's more like an asteroid or rock. I guess they move too, but I was expecting something more mechanical =P
At the beginning, I though about this concept, but I prefered a heavy modified asteroid, because it is something that is more different than just a basic massive structure.
Also I forgot the most important picture, who shows the price of gas in 3-4 years...
To be fair, they won't need much as there is no friction in space - you only need engines to acellerate and break. Unless of course you fight in orbit of planets. That said, Blizzard space lore tends to be a bit vague anyway.
Um, no matter how much gas you use, when you go fill, you're empty so it cost alot. And I'm pretty sure that you need more than a little spark to make a battlecruiser move up to light speed within a few seconds eh.
Weekly Terraining Exercise #168
Hey folks!
I've managed to escape from Nebuli's dark cellar and I'm back to uploading a new, more regular WTE. Hoozay! This week's theme shall be "Moving Island". What does this mean? Go wild, people. Good luck, and have fun!

I know this is off topic, but why does everyone have mozared in their picture?

I would join the fun, but I can't think of a good way to incorporate him into my standard avatar.

Try harder... even Sixen has managed to :P
They're all growing in the direction of the sun, aren't they? :D

Hmm... Challenge accepted.
Hey guys, while you're here, why don't you take a snack? It's almost clean here...

Just a suggestion, though.
Heh this theme reminds me of my entry for the Floating Island contest :D
I'm still ill unfourtunately but maybe I'll see if I can toss something together, I like the theme ^_^
I wanna do a floating island fortress
@ScrinKing: Go
Yes! But, as an actual movable units like in starship. Hahaha! Good luck.

I was thinking of making a Rock Lobster but it would be too hard so i made this instead...

It makes me think of the WoW turtle island:

Mixed with something like this pokemon:

That is quite expensive. Imagine filling a battlecruise gas tank...

Yeah, how do zergs accelerate in space? Has that ever been answered? Bugs me out.

Your islands reminds me of Myst (the first one) :D

Here is my guess! POOOOOP But in a more logic way, it's called Leviathan.

I believe they release stored gas. I think there was something describing how mutalisks are able to fly, and that was the explanation.
