So I was playing with my library again and I decided to make a scenery setting that's a little more spooky. :P I know these pictures don't have much use, but I seem to be addicted to making Warcraft-styled terrains. Anyway tell me what you think of these shots of a mysteriously "dead" town.
Overall it's pretty cool, but I feel like you have the tendency to clutter your terrain too much? There's always stuff all over the place. I reckon you can make your Warcraft terrains better if you add a little less... stuff, and spread things out a bit more.
Contrary to what Moz thinks, I think that it isn't too cluttered, just so long as you're either using it for a third or first person game, or not at all for a game. Keep making awesome Warcraft terrains :D
Yea what Nebuli2 said is pretty much how I feel. If it's for a SC2 melee ladder game then yeah, it's too cluttered, but if it's for a realistic RPG then it looks pretty god damn awesome if you ask me. It's all relative to it's use =)
And either way, you've obviously got talent, so I look forward to Warcraft: Legacy of the Damned ;-)

You know, even for an RPG, I think you have a point. If I really wanted to make these playable, I think I would spread everything out just a little bit and add more grass doodads.
Playable or not, it is too messy, to the point that it looks very unrealistic. It kinda seems like you try to get as many different WoW models as possible into your scene. In most cases your terrain will turn out better if you use a lower variety of models.
This is kind of what I mean with 'cluttered'. Overall it's really good, but there is no... clarity? No point? No logic? It feels like you're being served this huge vista and there is shit literally everywhere. I don't see a road. Where am I supposed to walk? How am I supposed to reach any of these places?
On the topic of logic: it's much more logical for there to be stuff everywhere than for there not to be any stuff. I also have no problem
whatsoever seeing where the "roads" are and where you can/can't walk.
I think I'm going to have to agree with Nebuli2 here guys. I understand you may think it has too many types of models, but I don't think that in any way makes it unrealistic. Real life has unlimited variety, and it's always "cluttered". Not neat and clean like most game maps depict. That said if this was to be a playable map I would definitely clean it up and make it less "cluttered" for gameplay purposes.
OMW thats awsoem ummm i am createing a new map and ive been looking for someone to help me out with the terrain? Make It look like ur on a infested SpaceShip? PM me if ur interested, or just post here. BTW How in GOD DID U DO THAT??? truly amazing
XD it would be relly awsome but im guessing very unlikly XD Sorry If i messed up the thread if u would like just ignore my request But the terrain is truly awsome so i thought it was worth a shot

my only complaint seems to be the objects stand out on the terrain way to much.
looks good otherwise.
@Mozared: Go
Once again I must disagree with you :/

Sense, it has none. You don't get the Topling stamp.

Uh, ye. No.
@Gorandor: Go
I'm confused.. who is he talking to and what terrain is he talking about?
@Terminator8: Go He is talking to me and he is probably talking about this stuff:
http://www.sc2mapster.com/forums/development/terrain/23900-so-i-was-fishing-me-some-zerg-the-other-day/
Why the hell he would do this in your thread... I have no fucking clue ~
That, sir, really inspired me to make a Warcraft RPG in that sort of camera view.. that really is pretty epic.
