Nicely done, it turned out pretty wall. The only thing I would add, and this is probably more of a preference, is a blizzard cliff ravine with something on it. But, meh, that's just always been a preference of mine.
I got, by a random Generator,
112(Port Zion Rock)
68(Korhal Cracked Dirt)
189(Zhakul'Das Dirt Rough)
29(Bel'Shir Dirt Light)
111(Port Zion Mesh)
59(Haven Grass)
127(Shakuras Sand)
152(Tyrador Rubble).. Now it is interesting :D
Hi all :) It's been almost a year since I've opened up the editor, so I'm kinda rusty. My skills have withered away but I managed to whip this up. This is my submission.
EDIT:
I pretty much forgot how to use the lighting system (took me like 5 minutes to even find it o_o), and my angles are kinda crappy, but I'm tired, so I'll stick with what I put up. :3
Ok, the haven leaves and zhakhul das bricks were the challenge I suppose. I made a little alien planet with a human port and some alien ruins. I tinted these ruins to match the theme that the textures created togather. I placed the trees on top of the leaves, added some big crystals and structures, but tried to keep the focus on the textures and cliff/height brush.
Okay i am done (: Here is my shot. I got 112(Port Zion Rock) 68(Korhal Cracked Dirt) 189(Zhakul'Das Dirt Rough) 29(Bel'Shir Dirt Light) 111(Port Zion Mesh) 59(Haven Grass) 127(Shakuras Sand) 152(Tyrador Rubble) as i said before.
Description on some of the things that may not can be seen : I had a problem fitting 'Bel'Shir Dirt Light' into the mix, so i used it to make 'Korhal Cracked Dirt' more "slimy" I hope it can be seen on the Pictures i have made.
I still have a LONG way to go on this one (not even half way done with initial doodad placement), but I figure I'll throw up a quick sample from the corner of the map.
This shot only has 5 of my 8 textures, but the rest are there in other parts of the map.
2 types of cracked dirt, 2 colors of lava cracks, 1 rock, 2 terran metal textures. And Bel'Shir bricks just to throw me off and make my life miserable. ;)
Also, this week I remembered to take screenshots periodically throughout development, so when I'm done I'll also post a progression slideshow so people can see how it was made from beginning to end.
Haha yeah, I really liked the lighting on the little human facility that I made, but the rest of the map is really ugly. Like I said though, I forgot how to use lighting x]
Also @Yeti, cool stuff :) the last screenshot is really sick.

for some reason i find it alot easier to make a showcase terrain than a playable terrain for a map, because showcased terrain at times is not very playable tho i guess with some effort anyone could tweak showcased terrain for a playable map.
I would love to have something to do, but i need a trigger guy for a Campaign that are set in Standby. IF i could make it to an end, i would do more Terrain for other people. (:
I made Cortex Roleplay - Sonora Beach, and Wastes. Not too proud of them though :D I wasn't super aware of lighting back then, and I haven't updated them in forever because there's no way (that I know of) of removing all the libraries and dependencies and such, so they're stuck at like v1.4 or something.
EDIT: Also I ignored higher end computers and based the map's features on my own computer's performance, which is not very good.

I like the second picture where we can see the ground made of at less 5 textures.

The combination of ZhakulD trees with the Char Trees is really interesting; I can't wait to see what the final product is!
@Telthalion: Go
Weird, interesting but weird. xD The trees don't really look 3D... It looks like a tree in Starcraft 1 Hahaha.

Holy crap I wish some people would work on the terrains in the custom maps, some of these terrains are just amazing!

Always looking for work (well, after my current project is done)
CBrag, haven't you made some Cortex Roleplay Maps? Which ones, if you did?

Sounds like an interesting theme. Spent a couple of hours working on this, using these tiles:
3 - Agria Dirt 6 - Agria Grass Green 25 - Bel'Shir Bricks Large 48 - Castanar Tiles 67 - Korhal Concrete 99 - New Folsom Dirt 125 - Shakruas Rock Cracked 178 - Xil Dirt
Spent a while messing around with the Depth of Field value for the camera, got some interesting results :)
Haven't done any map editing for quite some time now, regulary checking the forums and this deff peeked my interest.
2 - Agria Crops 182 - Xil Rock Cracked 169 - Ulnar Rubble 115 - Redstone Fossils 106 - Port Zion Dirt 189 - Zhakul'Das Dirt Rough 131 - Tarsonis Cracks 92 - Monlyth Dirt
Wish me good luck lol
