Some damn fine entries in this thread... in fact, ALL of them are great. I'm loving your guys' work. Keep it up!

Have you tried zooming out the far clip? And if so, which skybox are you using? 'Cause some of them just plain don't work. This thread has some great info on the subject.

I'd kill to know how you did that. o.o
But anyway... my turn. I like Terran bases. :] (bonus: and bars!)
My viewing distance is max, and I picked from the list of known working skyboxes. I don't think I'm even doing it right anymore, since I tried a bunch of things. How do you make your skybox visible in the editor? How do you change it?
Well, if I want to add a skybox to a tileset that doesn't have one, here's my usual process:
Go to "Terrain Texture Sets" in the Data Editor. Select the tileset of your choice, go to "Background Model (Fixed)," and add your desired skybox. "Shakuras Sky Box" for example.
Then go to "Map" in the main file menu, select "Map Textures," and load your newly edited tileset.
Make sure that your view distance is as far as it will go. If this doesn't work, try setting up a camera with a Far Clip of 9999 and viewing it, which will accomplish the same thing.
...Then that's it, that always works. I never have any problems with this method. Hopefully that helps! ...If not, then I dunno what to say. :\
Inferno: quite awsome, i think i can get the lights to do the same myself, but i would love to hear how you did it.
Gurrgel: the bar seems kinda bright, if you managed to switch off the lights and make it more of a night-club feel to it and it would be perfect, the start is quite good.
Lightning is a very importain part of the maps so try to mix around with it.
I really should get back to terraining but i havent had the time after my last accident.

Yeah, I tried to mess around with it, have almost no global lighting, but that meant I had to use a bit too many Omnilights in order to make stuff visible at all, could probably get a better result if I used a dimmed down global light instead...

Useally i just put in doodads with lights and then make em brighter, i did that to my previous stuff
Yeah, the "strippers" can be found in the WoW Assets thread on this forum, most other people and props (such as tables, jukebox, bottles and such) are from the Campaign Set pieces.
Check out this tutorial, ignore the parts about exporting things, below that there should be instructins for how to import the models into the map, that's the tutorial I used and it worked out fine for me.

I like working with light a lot, and I came across some settings that made a black and white comic style.
The terrain is from a project I've been working on. Just a snippet of it, I guess.

It reminds me of Muse's Origin of Symmetry album cover, even though that's yellow instead of red.
Also, Inferno, is that in game? Does it run smoothly? Would love to have a play in that to see how/if it works!

This screenshot is from the editor but I have played it in game and it runs perfectly smooth just like most other lightings I've used.

For some reason I can never get any skyboxes to work :/
@Inferno002: Go That's awesome!
@Inferno002:
Love it! Very interesting visual style, kinda reminds me of those old detective novels :)
I need to work on my terraining, so I can jazz up a small project I've been working on >.<

I think it's the 2nd part that I keep skipping. Loading the skybox -- thanks for the help.
EDIT: Actually, how do I load the tileset?
Here we go, finally managed to finish this, been really busy the last week, but hopefully I'll have time to finish this week's Exercise as well.
Anyway, it's a small bar / club where people can go for a drink and just general enjoyment / relaxation.

the last thing i want to hear when i try to buy a lap dance is "insufficient vespene gas"

nice... whate doodad did you use for the tables and the stripper model.... dude... recreate the bar on tatooine... nice

Stripper model is one of the 'Twins' from World of Warcraft, from sunwell plateau raid. I'll need to look up their names.
Purple version: Lady Sacrolash, red version: Grand Warlock Alythess

Quick newbie question, where do i need to place the assets I dl in order to use them in my maps? ^.^ lol
