Hey there. Working on a map very similar to Legion TD war if any of you have played that on WC3. I stumped on one specific facet of my map that I need help with. I'm trying to make a custom unit (an immortal) be built like a structure. So far I've made a custom builder who can build the unit. I've given the unit a footprint and a placement footprint so that it can be placed with a grid like structures. I've edited the unit to have a construction ability and build time so that its gets built like a structure. I've edited the unit to have structure flags.
My problem is this. Once the unit is done being built like the structure, I need to edit it via triggers after a certain given time to switch back to have the properties of a moveable unit again. Namely I just want the immortal to be able to walk. Is there any way to do this?
Alright so I'm looking at the spine crawler and it has 2 versions, one being uprooted. As I look for the difference I'm puzzled because I see that the uprooted spine crawler doesn't look much different. What makes it mobile? Even the rooted version has the "moveable" flag. Both have the editor category of structure. What is the difference that makes it move?
Well on a second look, I see that the difference between the two units is that one has a footprint (the rooted one) and one doesn't. Also the uprooted one has a slight speed. Is there any way to add speed and remove footprint via triggers? or do I need to make a second data copy of the same unit with the differences.
TI'm not sure why you are having an issue. Giving the Immortal a placement footprint should not prevent it from moving.
Edit: sorry, I didn't read it correctly. I see that you want to give it the ability to move after a certain duration. You could use a morph like the spine crawler, but an easier way would just be with triggers or with a behavior. You can easily adjust a unit's movement speed with the "Set Unit Property" action.

Yes, and I would recommend you take a look at the spine crawler unit to see how to do this.
