I am planning to create my own Custom Game, in which will involve a Humans versus Orcs scenario. So far I have only been making the models for the units, and I wish to show you what I got so far. Please feel free to give any input on new units or changes in the current units.
Only the Footman left now. If anyone has ideas for new units, please let me know.
HUMAN
Ranged unit, strong against Grunts. Cheap.
Spear wielding unit, strong versus Raiders. Cheap.
Mounted unit, strong versus Headhunters. Expensive.
Healer unit, heals friendly units. Expensive.
Power unit, strong versus all unit types. Very expensive.
ORC
Ranged unit, strong against Footmen. Cheap.
Spear wielding unit, strong versus Knights. Cheap.
Infantry unit, strong versus Pikemen. Expensive.
Mounted unit, strong against Crossbowmen. Expensive.
Healer unit, heals friendly units. Expensive.
Power unit, strong versus all unit types. Very expensive.
Hehe, thanks for the tips, but keep in mind that they're WoW models, so I can't alter stuff like ankles and arms and such. They're also going to be much much more tiny in the game itself as it is an RTS, but comments like the runes on No. 4's sword are exactly what I like to hear.
No, I was using the WoW Model Viewer tool. I was making models for units, not creating them. Bet you feel silly about complaining about arms and ankles now? ;)
But in all seriousness, I was looking for creative input on more types of units, and maybe some constructive or flattering comments on the visualization of the units already made.
Did you alter the model in any way or is it just wow models with wow weapons ?
In any case, I find them too much alike. To make the battlefield more "readable" all units should have specific piece of clothing or armor that makes them unique from each other while keeping the theme of their race. It's hard, but if you really can select from all the piece of armor and clothing found in wow, you should be fine.
He never said they were his. He clearly said he was using WoW model viewer. He says my units because he went and selected character and then the race and then the gender. Which is basically a no armor character in WoW. So he had to search through the thousands of pieces of armor to choose from just to make those. It's a pain in the ass to do and when you have the determination it can be done right.
Although someone is right, they do look a little too similar. Also I think the first one looks like a rogue.
You could change the blood elf to a darker skin tone, with his pale white skin he doesn't seem the same as the humans. Also change the power unit's gear altogether as the red makes it similar to the healer unit. Some of them just feel like they're missing something. I can't place my finger on it.
Still, the thread title and the first post ("Take a look at my units." "So far I have only been making the models for the units...") suggest, that he made the models himself.
Someone, who does not know WoW or the WoW model viewer (like myself) could assume, that the WoW model viewer can show these models as well and is used for this sole purpose, just like I did at first.
As this was obviously not the intention of the thread, I suggest modifying the title and the first thread to clarify, that this are indeed WoW - models.
Just an fyi unless you have some sort of program in which you can alter the texture path used for each model you can only have 1 of each character model (e.g human, orc, blood elf, etc.) because the textures for characters have the same name.

Just make warcraft 1 in sc2. Warcraft 1 was fun even with its awful interface, imagine if they had sc2's interface back then. Remember how you could only have 4 units selected
oh for the mounted units, strongly suggest they have 1-handed weapons. the mount itself would make a 2-hander incredibly unwieldy

HUMAN
ORC
Yay, you did it. :D
I want to see the mounted orc ingame.
With the first pic the texture of the joint between the blade arm and the unit needs some work
With the second pic the band for the hun knot and the arm bracers look a little to angular
Third pic the ear texture and spear tip polygons need some work
No. 4 consider adding some runes onto the sword texture and again bracers on arms look angular
No. 5 bad angle pic so cannot comment since it looks like the dog has a tongue piercing
No. 6 arms just look weird and seems to lack structure
No. 7 ankles when extended look strange, maybe add some downwards pointing fur to cover the error
And a general tip, consider giving all the units a normal texture to add fine detail.

Thought you said "I have only been making the models for the units" which indicates they were your own original creations.

Nice :D Would like to see a future Night Elf Race too in your custom map. Would gladly play it. I wish you good inspiration!

Texture Select by ID could be helpful here ;)
They look pretty nice, good work ;).
I have thousands of saved gear combinations when I got bored and dressed orcs and stuff, lol.

I 'm working on the remake of warcraft 1, also the 2 and 3 ;)
