You need to make your imported music into a soundtrack first, however.
1. Go to the Data Editor, Sounds tab.
2. Create a new sound and name it whatever you like.
3. Under "Sound Assets+" you can add your imported sound file.
4. Now go into the Soundtrack tab and create a new soundtrack.
5. Under "Cues+" you can add your newly created sound.
6. Now use the trigger I've pasted above and it should work like a charm.
Thanks! Under "Races" there appears to be a way to set everyone's default soundtrack!
On a sorta-related note, any idea how I set weapon sounds? I can't find a connection between sounds and weapons, or even sounds and effects. Maybe I'm missing something obvious!
Sounds are linked to actors who are linked to effects. Search for, in example, 'Ghost' and you fill find 'Ghost Attack', which has some sounds linked to it. Check 'Events' of those sounds to change at what events they react. Add events and almost entirely copy them from already existing events to make one sound work on multiple units.
I tried everything.. it just doesn't work.. i have my sound imported into the game, i have it on the data as sound, and as a soundtrack, i set the trigger just as it is up there (from s3rius), i test it in the data part (by pressing the' play' button, where it says 'in-game preview') and it just doesn't work.. its a mp3 file, on the in-game preview at the data section it seems to work perfectly.. but in the game.. it doesn't do anything.. i'm desperate.. please help :(

Well where can I find the Sound Assets+ ? (Could you do a print or something?) I'm really having a hard time putting custom sound into the editor since when I create the sound the file that I imported isnt simply on sounds ... :(
I've been wanting to add custom music to my maps, but wow, .ogg and .wav formats can turn a 3 minute song into 20+ megabytes! It seems that when I import a file of this size into my map, it won't even play.
Do people just use a much lower quality of audio to get their tracks in-game? Or is 3 minutes something that I couldn't hope to insert into the game? Honestly, it doesn't matter to me if it runs over 10 megabytes, because I doubt my map would ever be played on b.net anyway. It's mostly single-player RPG stuff.
If you guys know of a good(or free) .ogg converter and quality manager, hook me up with a link~
I only know that *.wav and *.ogg work.
I don't know about *.mp3 though.
Sweet. I used ogg when I was skinning and editing the hell out of PSOBB back in the day. I have like 50 full sound changes for that game. I just found some great ones to go with my map.
Unable to move existing archive (The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.): C:\Users\Ethan\Documents\Spectical Reef.SC2Map
What is this?! This error comes up when I try and save, and thus I cannot save. It occured when I went back to edit the track because it was too loud.
(on an additional note I used a MP3 successfully)
Edit: I resaved the map file as something else and go figure the error comes up as that now. Apparently the editor is using the file, there for I should close it before ajusting the sound -_- ....genius.
How do you change the music that's playing right now? So that the music fades into the new one you want to play? Imported music, btw.

Thanks, it works! :D
Noob question, but related - how do I import a sound file? MPQ stuff?

Can it import any .mp3 or does it have to be in some other format?

Convert it into .wav/.ogg and try again.
As I said in my last post I don't really know if mp3 actually works.

@Keyeszx: Go

This worked for my mac to convert any soundfile to .ogg. They have versions for Windows Quicktime too.
