I was going to make a Life of a Civilian type map only to realize that a lot of other people are doing this. My second idea is a Star Trek kinda map where your the commander of your own ship and you have other players apart of your team as well. Like a part of the map would be dedicated to your ship's command room, engine room, and as these rooms take damage, you would need to repair them and so on. Your goal is to either annihilate the enemy players ships or to capture all of the planets, you can up your ships with currency you get from controlling planets.
I like it, sounds interesting... problem would be holding peoples attention, as long as you have some random events and such to keep people immersed in the game and what you are doing while making it fun to replay over and over... you would have a winner!
Its a good raw idea. I agree with Morne that you should add things to capture the player's attention. I don't see this as an easy project though and I wouldn't recommend you doing this if you're unfamiliar with the trigger editor.
Life of a starship commander sounds a lot more interesting than life of a civilian. I always hated those "life of a peasant" maps on WC3, boring as hell.

I think it would be hard to do the damaging rooms thing right, but I'm way picky on how realistic my maps are. It's a nice outline, though.

Good idea overall. :)
