I'm currently working on a map and I wanted to start working with someone else so progress can be made faster. I'm hoping for some good tips on how to share our work with each other conveniently over the internets, I predict that sending the entire map file back and forth would be a bit cumbersome.
I think it depends on the project. Typically you have each person on the team assigned to 1 task and you only pass the map on to the next person after you complete it. For example, the team I am on, I am the trigger guy and the other guy does the terrain. So he makes random maps in his spare time and sends them to me when they are done. I take them and choose which one looks the best for my idea and make a playable map from it. I'd imagine on a larger team its done the same way. In my situation it works out extremely well because I hate terraining and it pretty much came to a brick wall in terms of making maps on my end. Usually he sends me 2-3 maps a week.
Unfortunately there is no way more than 1 people can work on the same map at the same time so there really isn't a lot that can be done to speed up the process other than just knowing your stuff.

Theoretically, you could have two people working on the same map. While one works on terraining or triggers the other works on a unit mod to be implemented once the map is finished.
Alright well I guess I should clarify that it is an AoS type map, so my plan was for me and my teammate to be working on different heroes and then we could put them together. Would there be a way to send just a hero between two maps on different computers?

Copy and paste
Use a version control system such as subversion on the extracted components of the SC2Map file. Since most stuff is xml-oriented, it works quite well.
