I want to remake heroes from Demigod, a dota style game. The main reason I want to do this is because Demigod online isn't doing too well so I thought it might be fun to remake them and either make a dota map or possibly adapt them into a small RPG. Either way I was wondering what units to use for each, I don't want to just import models, if it's even possible to import them. I have a general idea of what might to use for some but others I have no clue. Here are the heroes.
Regulus
Regulus is heavily focused on ranged and unexpected attacks. With his range upgrade he can solo towers without taking damage. With his long-range snipe he can hit demigods when they're most vulnerable. His mines can surprise enemies when they explode. All of these combine to make a very deadly assassin demigod.
I was thinking using Nova or Tosh, possibly Sylvanas. (I like Sylvanas best, but I want to hear your opinions)
Rook
The Rook is a slow-moving Demigod who crushes enemies with his hammer. He is a dangerous melee fighter and does not fall easily. He can upgrade himself to gain additional weapons that target enemies independently, and he can raise Towers of Light to defend an area. When he is low on health, the Rook can drain material from structures to heal himself.
I can think of Odin, Stone Zealot, or possibly Colossus for this one(anyone have any other ideas?)
Unclean Beast
The Unclean Beast is a swift-moving creature that can slowly burp and retreat. It deploys a barraging array of butterfly effects that can cripple anyone foolish enough to come too close. If the Unclean Beast finds itself low on health, it can drain nearby enemies. Be cautious of your allies when fighting against the Unclean Beast, for your friends may be infected with its vile and contagious plague. This demigod is incredibly effective at creeping, and is very good at chasing down fleeing demigods. Using the Unclean Beast effectively requires taking risks with your health.
I think Predator for this one, but I want something organic, zerg like or WoW like. Any suggestions?
Torch Bearer(my favorite)
A wizard-type assassin demigod. He has two modes he can switch between: Ice, which is centered around crowd control, and Fire, which is centered around damage dealing. While the Fire & Ice level 15 skill allows for some synergy, the Torchbearer wastes precious seconds if he has to constantly switch modes mid-fight. Since he must continue to level up his skills so that they remain relevant as the game progresses, and enemies become tougher, the Torchbearer is typically bottle-necked into using only a handful of his spells.
I'm thinking of doing High Templar for fire and Dark Templar for ice form. Could also do archon and change colors. Any suggestions?
Lord Erebus
Lord Erebus utilizes many skills that affect health; some steal from enemies, some increase health regeneration, some insidiously decrease the opponent's. He can also gain Night Walkers randomly whenever a unit dies.
I'm thinking Kerrigan and broodlings for the night walkers. Kind of an infestation thing going on here. Unless a WoW character would better fit the idea of this character.
Oak
Oak is a party player, granting a plethora of buffs for allies, and even sporting a few heals. Also has ability similar to Erebus to raise dead Spirits.
I'm thinking Zeratul just to because Erebus is dark and Oak is light so Zeratul would be the opposite to Kerrigan imo. Not sure for spirits, suggestions for this hero and spirits welcomed.
Queen of Thorns
he Queen of Thorns journeys across the battlefield atop a twisted beetle-chariot. When her rose-pedestal is open, she is a force to be reckoned with, skewering armies with forests of spikes and uprooting structures from beneath. When her rose is closed, she summons an army of tree-like Shamblers to fight and die in her name. Dying enemies fuel her, increasing her power.
I really have no idea, I could go with archon maybe, that's a huge stretch, but the shamblers are a problem, really suggestions for this one would be great.
Sedna
Although Sedna is a defensive hero her power comes from being in solid melee. Her silence makes her an amazing team player and allows her to always have the jump on an opposing hero. This, coupled with arguably the best interupt in the game makes her a very dangerous adversary. Heal is your main skill, use it to stay in the lanes as long as possible and farm like mad. She also has a lot of health regen so focus on mana items, this will allow you to heal as often as possible. Always keep an eye on allied heroes, their positions and their health.
She rides a snow leopard and can summon yetis(sounds awesome but I could never use them effectively). I can't think of anyone that would look good as a healer and riding on top of something. Maybe I'm just trying to stay too close to the original characters.
Oculus
Oculus uses the power of lightning to revitalize his allies and sizzle the opposition. Opponents struck by Chain Lightning are seared to the core, unable to regenerate Health or Mana. He recharges the Mana of his allies, turning them into ability-casting destroyers. Oculus employs Ball Lightning to travel down the field, exploding upon death. Idol minions rally their king, enhancing Oculus' attributes.
Supposedly he is OP, but I suck with him. He rides on a floating chair and uses electric attacks. I really like the purifier/soul hunter that didn't make it in starcraft 2, it looked cool. But seeing as that model isn't in the game(maybe it's hidden) I can't use it. So suggestions for this one.
Demon Assassin
Armed with twin swords, Demon Assassin blinks across the field with great speed. He uses a series of powerful warp attacks to quickly reach opponents and rend them asunder. Demon Assassin can change places with an enemy Demigod, throwing them into a trap or cutting off their escape. When surrounded, Demon Assassin can perform a quick series of warps, turning a wave of reinforcements into corpses.
Just have to say I hate this guy, makes rook's life a living hell. Anyways I'm thinking prisoner zealot but I feel I used too many protoss units. Suggestions please.
So that's all the heros/demigods. Some are considered overpowered but really I think a good player can use them in different ways to the full effectiveness of the character. Sadly the online didn't kick off that great so there are people who just use one build that nobody for some reason knows how to counter. Such as Erebus somehow becoming godly with all his Night Walkers, although can be countered by Oak with high defense and his spirits. Oculus is the only one I have no idea how to counter.
So back to what I was saying I just want some ideas of units you guys/gals would use to make a hero based on the description. I want to try out data editing to see if it's more me but I just can't decide on units.
If you are gonna do demon Assassin (and use WoW models) then I would say something like the Deathwhisperer http://www.wowhead.com/npc=19299 in hellfire peninsuela. And Rook can be a stone giant.
Unclean Beast: I must say Lurker is almost an copy of it just with six legs instead of four :D
Sedna Could be a little digitalized maybe, so that she mounts a predator and you just attachs an character like nova on her back (in this case the predator will do all the animations for attack and such.)
That sounds awesome. I didn't even think of mounting something on a predator for Sedna. Lurker for Unclean beast, hmm, not sure. They need to have some melee attacks. The reason I was skeptical on Predator is because he has almost no animations for the spells or attacks, but as Sedna's mount it would work perfect because he just needs to attack.
