EXP gain method and sharing can be set in veterancy levels. It's extremely easy and simple.
Behaviour - Experience Fraction: Sets the amount of experience gained from a given action (Ie. you can have it give 100% experience from a kill, or 50% from damage dealt and the other 50% for the kill). You can even award experience for absorbing damage.
Stats - Shared Fraction: The amount of experience shared to your team mates. You can set it so that if you make a kill that nets you 10 exp, they can gain 1-10 exp from that as well.
Stats - Shared Radius: How far away your team mates have to be to gain shared experience from the above stat.

Is there any way to change so heroes get exp from allied kills in an area aswell as in wc3?
@sonnert: Go
I'm guessing you would have to make a trigger. Though I haven't done anything with heroes and XP so I have no idea what that would be.
Hmm im not sure if that would work. There is no action that adds xp to units and i dont believe xp can be added with behaviors. :/
Somebody at sc2 mapster made a library that adds xp. Id search for it.
Set Unit Property action, has a Kill section, does that directly correlate to exp?
also, you can edit veterancy to add XP for dealing or taking damage.
okay i used zifoons triggs n stuff, cut some stuff here and there. Seems to be working pretty well
