That can't be right. Several other units also have the 'glow' effect when they are cloaked, such as the ghost and the banshee. Hell, if you bring a mothership in, every single unit in the game can get that glow effect.
So one unit in SC2 can put a cloak effect glow on hundreds of units, and we can't even put it on a single one? I hope that's not the case. :D
Mmmmm take a look at the behaviour, I know they use the placement model for protoss unit but I don't know what do they use for other units.
Check them on the model viewer
I'd be interested in that too now. It seems the cloaking effect is strictly bound to the flag "cloak", since removing it from a else unaltered copy of the permanent cloaking copy will always remove the glow. Is there a way to create custom flags?
How would one go about applying the cloaking graphics (blue glow) to a unit without actually cloaking it?
And also, can you control which players (allies, enemies, individuals) that can see this glow?
Any help would be most appreciated. :)
I think it can be done just only on protoss units cause the cloak effect uses the "unit placement" model that you se when you warp protoss units.

Bump.
Does anyone know how to apply these sort of glow effects?

I'm trying this in the opposite way: what to have cloak without that glow. Any ideas?
I would also like to find a way to do this. I'm trying to create some 'ghostly' looking units and the Cloak effect would be just perfect...
