Can anyone find a workaround to rotating units on their Z-axis? I can't seem to find how to do this. =(
I want to be able to have a unit permanently rotated. (Think a marine, prone; or a medivac in a vertical spaceship launch position).
Or a doodad that could be creatively used at a different angle.
Turning on the Z-axis is normal unit rotation, you're talking about rotating around the X-axis. You can do it with sight operations like ezbeats said, but it's also possible through triggers by sending actor messages.
Site Operations work great, thanks guys!
I was a bit confused at first but since i had just finished the Uberlisk tutorial i kind of knew where to find the site operation, how to make one, and how to input the value to the actor. The Reaper Arena helped really nail it in my head though.

Any help is appreciated.
it is done through sight operators. doa search on the forum and youll find people explaining it, theyre pretty simple. :)
And check out Reaper Arena, which is based entirely off of a sideways mechanic.

Through Triggers:

This allows for more dynamic rotations (like if you have a space sim). Sadly since I couldn't get up vector working, you can't rotate about the Y-axis.
Site operations do work, I can't explain how to use them however because I haven't really played with them.
SOpForwardIsUp might work, otherwise create an Explicit Rotation site operation and edit the Forward and Up vectors to your liking.

Lol, glad my map could help you out. :)
