If I want a unit that has no attack animations, or no preset actors of any kind, how would I make it so that the unit has some sort of attack animation?
That would be in Actor events.
You should remove any attack or weapon related actions already in his events assuming he is a blizzard unit.
The even (flag) would be something like...
weapon starts - *any*- attack start
Then the action (clapperboard) Animation clear
That should relatively clear his attack animation its pretty much like that for all of the animations.
I'll attach a map in a minute that will have an exaample should you have trouple.
Then you are out of luck. You cannot add a new animation to a model in the galaxy editor. You can try to fake animations by attaching units, changing their scales, use invisible helper models or something. Or you can edit the model in 3dsMax and add some animations. Or, in case you are using the SM models (the high quality campaign models) the animations are stored in additional .m3a files you need to add to the model, if you want to use them.

What I mean is the unit has NO animations at all, so there is nothing I can just switch out with
