I have some kind of flame effect / spell. What i want is, after the flame, the ground should be a little bit darker at that point (from the burning). Maybe theres a model or a way to edit the ground texture via triggers, but i havent found anything yet. Does anyone know how i could do that?
There are several smoke clouds and ground splats. Can't you just tint one of them black and use that?
The "splat" models used by structures could also work, but most are drawn to fit the outline of the respective structure. For something like a flame strike with 4 smaller pillars in a "+" shape you could use the command center splat, for example.
thx, im using the zerg burrowed units splats now, which looks ok.
One problem i have is, opacity seems not to work with splats, but i really would like them to be like 50% opaciity, so they kind of fit more into the enviroment, but when i use the set opacity actor msg, nothing happens.

Could use a Model type actor because some models are automatically terrain hugging. Could always retexture a zerg aoe cursor model in the worst case.

my splat actors are models, but that doesnt help, still no transparency
I mean use a Model type actor that uses a model with terrain conforming properties.
