I've been duplicating a lot of units to modify certain characteristics, while leaving the originals to produce different versions of the unit. I've started to understand the process of duplication and I only copy parts of the unit that I need to change.
I'm kinda stuck on the baneling. I need to change the damage and splash (which I don't know how to change on any unit). When I look at what to duplicate in terms of effects, I'm totally lost. It's not the typical unit, so I have no idea what I should copy and not copy. Any help would be appreciated.
Pretty much you will want to duplicate the following Baneling Effects
Baneling - Suicide (Remove Buff)
Baneling - Suicide (Target Friendly Switch)
Baneling - Volatile Burst (Building Damage)
Baneling - Volatile Burst (Friendly Building Damage)
Baneling - Volatile Burst (Friendly Unit Damage)
Baneling - Volatile Burst (Set)
Baneling - Volatile Burst (Unit Damage)
Target Friendly Switch - Detects whether the unit you are attacking is enemy or friendly (VERY important for the baneling, see Example below)
Building / Unit Damage - each of these effects does the damage depending on its search filters, aswell as has Search - Area + field set to its numbers.
Friendly Building / Unit Damage - these do the same damage as the regular building / unit damage effects, HOWEVER, they do NOT have splash damage because Search - Area + is blank.
I tested this out before posting this because I really wanted to make sure::
Modified Volatile Burst (Unit damage) to 100,000. Left Volatile Burst (Friendly Unit damage) to 20. Modified Zergling Life to 100,000. Gave myself 2 Zerglings, and Hostile Player 1 Zergling, all placed next to each other, and gave myself a Baneling out of range.
Hostile Zergling attacks Friendly Zergling1. Friendly Zergling1 and 2 attack Hostile Zergling. I force my Baneling to attack Friendly Zergling1. Baneling explodes, does 20 damage to Friendly Zergling1, 0 damage to Friendly Zergling2, and kills Hostile Zergling.
If there wasn't the Target Friendly Switch, along with Friendly Unit/Building Damage with a blank Search - Area +, that 1 Baneling of mine would have killed all 3 Zerglings.
I hope that explains... everything. I went overkill, haha...
Your best bet is to take a look at each weapons effects to determine exactly what they do, and just mess around with numbers if you don't know exactly. Best way to learn, really.

Anything?
Im pretty sure for splash units there is an effect that searches for enemies and then deals the damage effect
