What have I done wrong when duplicating this process ?
The current issue I have is there is no merge time, its instant - There also is no animation.
Heres what I did.
Duplicate the target spell. Only selected the top ability itself.
Renamed it
Added the new ability to a marine.
Updated the command card
Unit merges instantly - No animation. Time is set for the merge though.
What am I missing ? I read around from posts back in 2011 and 2012 that I need to set the execute? I cannot find such field. Assuming with the changes from the editor that this is no longer around?
The merge ability is really bugged out and is only designed for high templar; I remember trying to do something similar and spent hours and it was still a no go
The units that can be merged need to have the mergable ability put on them. Otherwise the merge will be instant, as you have noted. Similar system for warping, the units that can be warped need to have the warpable ability on them so that the timer occurs.

Are you saying that the previous units need the ability or the merged unit needs the ability ? I am able to make 2 marines merge into an archon and the ability performs properly

There is an ability called "Mergeable" that your result unit needs to have.
